Job Purpose:

To manage and oversee all waste management operations on-site, ensuring safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant waste handling, segregation, and disposal. The role aims to support operational excellence, sustainability goals, and regulatory compliance through effective coordination with suppliers, internal departments, and waste management teams.

Job Responsibilities

Operational Oversight & Compliance:

•Supervise daily waste management activities across the site.

•Conduct regular inspections of waste handling areas including laydown zones, STPs, and segregation points.

•Ensure compliance with local environmental laws, company SOPs, and safety regulations.

•Maintain accurate documentation including manifests, permits, and disposal certificates.

Supplier & Vendor Coordination:

•Liaise with suppliers for timely waste collection and disposal.

•Attend meetings with existing/prospective vendors to evaluate service quality and discuss improvements.

•Assist in reviewing and managing waste disposal contracts.

Monitoring, Reporting & Analysis:

•Maintain daily operational logs and inspection records.

•Analyse waste generation trends and recommend source reduction or process optimization.

•Track KPIs related to waste handling, transport efficiency, and storage turnover.

Carbon Dust Operations Support:

•Coordinate vehicle schedules for transporting carbon dust in line with production needs.

•Monitor rodding and baking kiln areas to ensure waste removal supports uninterrupted production.

Emergency & Spill Response:

•Lead immediate response to waste-related incidents and spills.

•Ensure spill kits and emergency equipment are readily available and operational.

•Update and implement emergency response plans as needed.

Training & Development:

•Train and guide new waste management staff and contractors on protocols and best practices.

•Conduct toolbox talks (TBTs) and refresher sessions to reinforce safety and operational standards.

Resource & Equipment Management:

•Oversee tools, PPE, vehicles, and other resources assigned to waste operations.

•Monitor equipment performance and request maintenance or replacements as required.

Sustainability & Continuous Improvement:

Drive initiatives to reduce landfill waste and promote recycling or repurposing.

•Collaborate with internal teams to align waste handling with production and shutdown plans.

•Support company-wide sustainability and environmental responsibility goals.
