Roles & Responsibilities
Project Overview
In partnership with the Regional European Program for Development and Protection (RDPP III), NAFE is implementing the project "Economic Empowerment and Sustainable Economic Protection for Women and Girls" for the period 2024-2026. The project aims to empower Syrian and Jordanian women economically, socially, and legally, and to enhance their livelihoods. This is achieved by reducing their reliance on aid and increasing their self-sufficiency through income-generating strategies, including grants and employment opportunities.
NAFE is seeking to hire a highly motivated and creative Communications and Media Officer to lead the project's communication efforts and visibility.
Key Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will be responsible for a dynamic set of tasks that showcase the project's impact and engage key stakeholders. Your duties will include:
- Assisting in the development and implementation of an annual communications plan to ensure all external communications align with NAFE's priorities.
- Managing NAFE's website to effectively showcase the organization's initiatives, beneficiary success stories, and highlights from its events and activities.
- Creating, managing, evaluating, and monitoring content for NAFE's social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.) and engaging with public inquiries.
- Planning, managing, and evaluating awareness campaigns on social media to highlight the impact of NAFE's programs.
- Ensuring program visibility and communicating their impact on the local community through a wide range of communication and public relations activities.
- Maintaining continuous awareness and understanding of NAFE's programs and activities.
- Assisting in crafting key messages for the organization's advocacy issues and principles, and exploring positive media relations opportunities.
- Liaising with key stakeholders, media outlets, and the management and staff teams to provide information and advice on issues related to NAFE's initiatives and campaigns.
- Developing NAFE's profile by researching, writing, and producing relevant, targeted publications and briefings.
- Supporting the production of NAFE's annual report and newsletter.
- Producing and processing all publications and promotional materials, including documentaries.
- Writing press releases and media reports.
- Organizing press conferences, events, and activities, and coordinating with media outlets to ensure appropriate coverage.
Required Qualifications & Skills
We are looking for a candidate who is not just a communications specialist, but a creative storyteller with a strong understanding of gender-sensitive and empowering communication.
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Media, Digital/Modern Journalism, Graphic Design, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of proven experience in graphic design or digital media, preferably with a non-profit organization or civil society institution.
- Creative & Technical Proficiency:
- Strong command of gender-sensitive language and the ability to craft compelling narratives that align with gender-based analysis.
- Advanced proficiency in design software, including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and other relevant programs.
- Demonstrated experience in video production, photography, and editing.
- Ability to use modern photography and videography equipment to produce high-quality visual content.
- Content & Campaign Management:
- Excellent skills in planning and managing digital campaigns, including quantitative and qualitative data analysis and report preparation.
- Full familiarity with social media management and analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Hootsuite, Sprout Social).
- Communication & Public Relations:
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with media outlets and the public.
- Experience in handling media crises and making quick, effective decisions.
- Organizational & Personal Skills:
- High level of creativity and the ability to innovate unique and engaging content.
- Strong time management and organizational skills with a commitment to meeting deadlines.
- Ability to work under pressure, as part of a team, and to coordinate effectively with different departments.
- Familiarity with digital marketing techniques and strategies.
