Software Director - CPO Platform & Digital Products

Envision Employment Solutions is currently looking for a Software Director CPO Platform & Digital Products for one of our partners, a leader in the Solar Energy System Service industry!

Job Summary: The Software Director will build, scale, and internalize the company s software capability (CPO platform, integrations, digital services, Smart Parking Operator, Fleet Management, future development roadmap) while transitioning from outsourced development to a controlled in-house model .

Responsibilities:

Software Strategy & Product Roadmap

• Define and own the software product roadmap across the company s key digital platforms, including the CPO platform, software integrations, digital services, Smart Parking Operator solutions, fleet management capabilities, and future development initiatives.
• Align software development priorities with the company s commercial objectives, operational needs, and long-term growth strategy.
• Translate business requirements from commercial, operations, and customer-facing teams into clear product priorities and development plans.
• Establish a roadmap governance process to ensure that product decisions are based on business value, technical feasibility, scalability, and delivery capacity.

Team Building & Capability Internalization

• Lead the transition from an outsourced software development model to a controlled, in-house engineering capability.
• Develop a structured transition plan to gradually reduce dependency on external vendors while maintaining business continuity and platform stability.
• Hire, build, and manage a lean but scalable internal software team across backend development, frontend development, DevOps, QA, and other critical engineering functions.
• Define the optimal technology organization structure, roles, responsibilities, and operating model required to support current and future business needs.
• Establish clear ownership of software products, technical delivery, code quality, platform performance, and long-term maintainability.

Architecture & Technology Governance

• Define and oversee scalable software architecture that supports platform growth, integrations, transaction volumes, operational reliability, and future product expansion.
• Ensure that all software platforms meet the required standards for performance, security, reliability, availability, and maintainability.
• Select and govern the appropriate technology stack, tools, frameworks, cloud infrastructure, development practices, and engineering standards.
• Establish technical governance practices around APIs, integrations, data flows, platform security, system monitoring, documentation, and release readiness.
• Evaluate build-versus-buy-versus-partner decisions to ensure pragmatic and commercially sound technology choices.

Delivery & Execution

• Implement modern software delivery practices, including agile delivery methods, CI/CD pipelines, structured release management, QA processes, and production support workflows.
• Ensure that software delivery timelines are aligned with commercial priorities, client commitments, operational requirements, and strategic roadmap milestones.
• Improve software delivery speed, quality, predictability, and accountability across internal and external development teams.
• Establish development KPIs, delivery governance, sprint planning practices, release controls, and performance tracking mechanisms.
• Ensure that technical execution remains practical, business-focused, and adaptable to evolving company priorities.

Cross-Functional Integration

• Work closely with sales teams to understand client needs, market requirements, and revenue-generating product opportunities.
• Partner with pre-sales teams to assess solution feasibility, integration complexity, technical effort, and delivery timelines.
• Collaborate with operations teams to ensure that software products are aligned with deployment realities, support requirements, user experience, and operational scalability.
• Act as the bridge between commercial, technical, and operational teams to ensure that software decisions support both business growth and platform stability.
• Provide leadership with clear visibility on product roadmap progress, technical risks, delivery constraints, and investment priorities.
