Solar System Design Engineer

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop PV solar systems for rooftop, ground-mounted, and battery-storage applications.
• Create detailed engineering plan sets using CAD software to support installation, permitting, and inspection requirements.
• Prepare system layouts, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and supporting technical documentation.
• Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes, electrical standards, and regulatory requirements at local, regional, and national levels.
• Collaborate with internal teams including project coordination, procurement, and installation to support seamless project execution.
• Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs) outlining required components, equipment, and materials.
• Support cost-estimation activities by preparing project quotes that include labor, equipment, and additional installation costs.
• Review, analyze, and optimize system efficiency, performance, and safety during the design phase.
• Stay current with solar industry technologies, design best practices, and evolving regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related field.
• 1 4 years of experience in solar system design or a similar engineering role.
• Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, or similar design tools.
• Strong understanding of PV system components, electrical design principles, and solar installation workflows.
• Knowledge of relevant industry codes such as NEC, IEC, or other applicable standards.
• Ability to interpret technical data, electrical drawings, and site surveys.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently as well as within a team environment.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional project teams.
