Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

As a Sonographer, you will be responsible to provide critical diagnostic support by performing high-quality ultrasound examinations, enabling accurate medical assessments and improved patient outcomes. This includes the skilled operation of ultrasound technology to capture detailed images of internal organs, tissues, and vascular structures. Adhere to Dubai Health Authority (DHA) guidelines while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and privacy throughout all procedures.

In this role, you will:

  • Perform routine and specialized ultrasound examinations?including abdominal, gynecological, vascular, and musculoskeletal scans?assessing images for diagnostic purposes and collaborating with radiologists or referring physicians for interpretation.
  • Prepare patients by explaining procedures, verifying medical history, and ensuring their privacy and comfort during the exam; adjust equipment and positioning to minimize discomfort while confirming the correct procedure is performed.
  • Ensure all ultrasound images meet clinical standards for diagnostic quality by evaluating clarity, contrast, and artifacts, and follow strict DHA infection control and radiation safety protocols, including proper equipment disinfection and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) use.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain ultrasound machines, reporting any malfunctions promptly; document examination details accurately and upload images and reports to the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) in line with DHA regulations.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to communicate findings, support diagnosis and treatment planning, and stay current with advancements in ultrasound through Continuous Professional Development (CPD) as required by DHA.

Desired Candidate Profile

Degree in Radiology Technology or Medical Imaging.

  • Certification in Ultrasonography.
  • Valid licensure/registration (e.g., DHA, HAAD, MOH in UAE or ARDMS (U.S.), CSDMS (Canada), ASAR (Australia), or similar professional body certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS).

To be considered for this role, you must meet the below requirements:

  • 5+ years experience in sonography within hospital or diagnostic imaging settings.
  • Strong clinical skills with in-depth knowledge of ultrasound procedures.
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations, standards, and policies to ensure compliance and best practices in patient care.
  • Experience across multiple specialties?such as abdominal, vascular, musculoskeletal, and small parts is preferred.
  • Proficiency with reporting software and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS).
  • Cross-training in radiography is required.
