Roles & Responsibilities
Department Definition
Providing comprehensive educational services to students with disabilities and learning difficulties in special classrooms, through the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with the school s special education team. These programs are tailored to meet the needs of students with special needs or learning difficulties, in accordance with the educational policies, regulations, and procedures followed by the institution, ensuring an appropriate and inclusive learning environment.
Main Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide educational and instructional services to students with disabilities and learning difficulties, based on the approved number of students and teaching load for subjects including Arabic language, mathematics, Islamic education, and social studies.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for each student with disabilities or learning difficulties in the special education classroom.
- Monitor the implementation of IEPs for students with disabilities or learning difficulties according to content standards and performance levels.
- Make appropriate modifications and accommodations to the curriculum based on the nature and degree of disability of students in the special education classroom.
- Prepare daily/weekly lesson plans for students with disabilities or learning difficulties aligned with their IEPs and learning outcomes.
- Assess students in the special education class while considering appropriate evaluation criteria during tests and exams.
- Train students with disabilities or learning difficulties to use visual and auditory aids correctly, coordinating with other teachers and parents to ensure proper usage.
- Engage in self-development and professional growth in the field of special education.
- Participate in preparing and implementing awareness programs for teachers and parents of students with disabilities or learning difficulties at the school.
- Coordinate with relevant agencies and centre s specializing in disability support and special education to address issues concerning students with disabilities.

Requirements for Expatriates:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Special Education; Masters desirable
Minimum 3-year degree
Experience (no certification): 3+ years of full-time post-qualification teaching experience in a school-based setting.
Experience (with certification): 2+ years of full-time post-qualification teaching experience in a school-based-setting.
Accepted Certifications: Ministry of Education teaching License, B.Ed; PGCE, QTS.
English proficiency requirement: (for non-native English speakers). IELTS 5 Academic or 5.5 General. IELTS certificate cannot be older than 2 years.
Up to 55 years old
Requirements for Emirati Nationals:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Special Education; Masters desirable
Experience: No previous teaching experience required.
Minimum GPA of 2.5 for Emirati candidates.
English proficiency requirement: (for non-native English speakers). IELTS 5 Academic or 5.5 General. IELTS certificate cannot be older than 2 years.
