Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Mandatory Occurrence Reporting System

  • Ensure relevant information and data on safety reported via the GCAA Mandatory Occurrence Reporting System, is processed, collected, analyzed, stored, protected and disseminated in accordance with relevant regulations and standards
  • Perform quality checks, and completeness of data once report are submitted
  • Classify occurrences in line with the GCAA event taxonomy scheme. Assignment of Reports to the Principal Inspectors if required.
  • Act as a custodian of the Mandatory Occurrence SDCPS, protect the sources & the GCAA against liabilities arising from the process

Promotion of Safety Culture

  • Assist in the implementation of safety promotion activities to raise safety awareness culture within the UAE civil aviation industry and to keep stakeholders informed of changes to relevant safety standards, furthermore, disseminate and nurture aviation safety awareness culture in the UAE
  • Participate in internal and external safety related events, conferences, seminars forums and meetings in order to advance and support GCAA State Safety Program
  • Provide safety advice on relevant rules and regulations, best practices and other applicable guidance to GCAA external and internal clients

Policies, Systems, Processes and Procedures

  • Maintain an on-going update on new standards and best practices to foster the safe and orderly growth of UAE civil aviation.
  • Development of Safety related Processes and Procedures (i.e. Hazard Identification, Risk Assessments and Safety Data Analysis) to support the UAE Safety Management responsibilities
  • Ensure that relevant processes and procedures are in line with ICAO SARPs.
  • Ensure the continuous improvement of the e-services or other applications designed to make relevant processes within ASAS more efficient and effective.
  • Maintain the state safety management records and compile and maintain the risk register

Safety Management

  • Develop Safety Intelligence & Management related methodologies across the sector
  • Perform Safety related studies and research.
  • Administer the necessary tools for collection, processing and transformation of data to information to support safety management responsibilities.

Safety Data Collection, Analysis, Study and Dissemination

  • Produce safety reports on the status of State Safety performance in coordination with relevant departments based on available and relevant safety data.
  • Develop executive safety reports for GCAA senior management.
  • Issue reports and studies to internal and external stakeholders who have requested specific data relating to Aviation Safety.
  • Explore and implement Data Modelling capabilities software.
  • Reviewing and assessing hazards identified through external sources such as foreign AAIS, safety management entities, other regulatory agencies and manufacturers information.
  • Provide assistance in implementing and steering UAE safety data and information sharing programs.

Safety guidance and support

  • Support implementation of ICAO SARPS and guidance material related to Safety Management
  • Provide advice and guidance to the Sector and the aviation industry, sharing best practice, trends and the findings of reviews, studies and investigations to reduce future occurrences/incidents/accidents. Subsequently, conduct briefings, safety training, and when directed conduct y safety workshops
