Roles & Responsibilities

Job purpose

The Business Development role at OQBI will support business development efforts related to OQBI production assets, with a focus on LPG, Methanol, Ammonia, and other production units. The role is aimed at assisting in identifying new business opportunities, managing projects, and analyzing market trends. This position plays a key role in supporting the execution of business strategies aligned with OQBI s commercial goals in the oil, gas, and petrochemical sectors.

This role is guided in accordance with the OQBI Mission, Vision, Values, and Strategies, as well as policies, guidelines, and both local & international standards. It is supported by an IT Technology platform, HSSE standards, Omani government regulations, legal justifications, and best international practices. All these elements are aligned with the national objectives of Oman.

Main tasks and responsibilities

Market Research & Opportunity Support:

  • Assist in identifying and researching new market opportunities for OQBI s production assets.
  • Conduct competitor analysis and industry trend analysis to provide insights into market conditions.
  • Support the development of market-entry strategies for emerging markets and new business initiatives.

Project Execution & Support:

  • Assist in executing business development projects, including feasibility studies, financial modeling, and project execution.
  • Help prepare business cases for new projects and initiatives.
  • Support project tracking and monitor timelines to ensure successful project delivery.

Commercial Strategy Support:

  • Assist in supporting commercial strategies to align with OQBI s production goals.
  • Support in developing pricing strategies, sales forecasts, and other commercial targets.
  • Monitor the commercial performance of new ventures and provide recommendations for improvement.

Stakeholder Interaction & Relationship Management:

  • Support in managing relationships with external stakeholders, including government entities, joint venture partners, and other industry participants.
  • Assist in preparing presentations, meeting materials, and reports for senior leadership and external meetings.
  • Provide timely updates to internal stakeholders on business development initiatives.

Financial & Risk Support:

  • Assist in financial modeling for new business opportunities, investment analysis, and budgeting.
  • Support in monitoring the financial performance of new initiatives, ensuring adherence to budgets and profitability goals.
  • Ensure business development activities comply with regulations and corporate governance standards.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with internal teams such as Operations, Finance, Legal, and Engineering to ensure the successful execution of business development projects.
  • Provide support in ensuring alignment across departments for project success.

Desired Candidate Profile

Experience:

Sr. Specialist: 8+ years of relevant experience preferably in the oil, gas, or petrochemical industries.

Proven experience supporting large-scale projects and assisting with market research, financial modeling, and business case development.

Experience with financial analysis, budgeting, and investment evaluation processes.

Experience working with external stakeholders, including partners, regulators, and contractors, is a plus.

Soft Skills:

Strong analytical and research skills.

Good communication and interpersonal skills for effective teamwork and collaboration.

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Ability to think strategically and provide insights to senior leadership.

Technical Skills:

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

Knowledge of business intelligence tools or financial modeling software is a plus.

Understanding of the oil, gas, and petrochemical industry, including production management and business development dynamics.
