Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Manage and maintain Linux and Windows servers across virtualized environments.
Handle VM configurations, monitoring, and optimization for performance and reliability.
Oversee OS-level upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management.
Apply system hardening standards (CIS, ISO 27001 practices).
Manage and maintain system firewalls, endpoint security, and intrusion prevention.
Implement and monitor regular security updates, vulnerability assessments, and patch management.
Monitor system logs, performance metrics, and alerts to ensure uptime and stability.
Troubleshoot system-level issues, including hardware, OS, and virtualization layers.
Create and maintain documentation, runbooks, and incident response procedures.
Implement and monitor system backups and disaster recovery procedures.
Ensure data integrity, redundancy, and compliance with retention policies.
Work with network, DevOps, and application teams to support deployment and integration.
Coordinate with datacenter provider for escalations related to hardware or connectivity.
Provide technical guidance on system-related improvements and automation opportunities.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Education & Experience
  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 3 5 years of proven experience in system administration (Linux and Windows environments).
  • Technical Skills
  • Strong hands-on experience with Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS, RedHat) and Windows Server administration.
  • Proficiency in virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, or similar).
  • Knowledge of system hardening standards (CIS benchmarks, ISO 27001 practices).
  • Experience managing firewalls, endpoint security, and intrusion prevention systems.
  • Solid understanding of patch management, vulnerability assessments, and security updates.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, or equivalent).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, OS, and virtualization layers.
  • Knowledge of backup solutions and disaster recovery planning.
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs).
  • Scripting proficiency (Bash, PowerShell, or Python) for automation.
  • Soft Skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams (DevOps, Network, Application).
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Preferred/Plus
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Exposure to containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Relevant certifications (RHCSA/RHCE, MCSA/MCSE, CompTIA Security+, VMware, etc.).
