Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:
Rebar Preparation and Installation:
Cut, shape, and bend reinforcement steel bars and mesh to required dimensions using appropriate tools and equipment.
Securely tie reinforcement bars using wire and ensure proper spacing as per technical drawings.
Position and fix reinforcements in molds, formworks, or designated areas before concrete pouring.
Blueprint Interpretation:
Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine the layout and placement of steel reinforcements.
Verify dimensions and placement of reinforcement against project plans.
Concrete Reinforcement:
Assemble rebar cages, mats, or other reinforcement structures for concrete foundations, columns, beams, slabs, and walls.
Ensure alignment, stability, and strength of reinforcements to meet structural and safety requirements.
Safety and Compliance:
Follow all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) protocols specific to the oil and gas sector.
Quality Assurance:
Inspect and ensure reinforcement work meets the required quality standards and tolerances.
Report any discrepancies or potential issues to the supervisor or project manager.
Collaboration with Other Teams:
Coordinate with shuttering carpenters, concrete workers, and site engineers to align reinforcement tasks with other construction activities.
Provide input on resolving challenges related to reinforcement placement or design discrepancies.
Material Management:
Ensure reinforcement materials are available and stored properly to prevent damage or loss.
Minimize material wastage and manage inventory effectively.

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in construction or steel fixing is preferred.
Proven experience as a steel fixer, particularly in large-scale construction or the oil and gas industry.
Knowledge of construction standards and regulations related to reinforcement work.
Skills and Competencies:
Proficiency in using tools such as rebar cutters, benders, and tying wire tools.
Strong understanding of construction blueprints and specifications.
Attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
Physical fitness and stamina to handle physically demanding tasks.
Problem-solving skills for addressing on-site challenges related to reinforcement work.
