Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute the SBU s business strategy in line with the company s global growth objectives.
- Conduct market intelligence, competitor analysis, and trade flow mapping to identify new markets and trading opportunities.
- Define the commercial roadmap including product mix (Urea, DAP, MAP, NPK, Sulphur, etc.), pricing strategies, and regional expansion priorities.
- Build and manage the annual business plan, including revenue targets, cost budgets, and profitability KPIs.
- Commercial & Trading Management
- Lead international procurement and sales negotiations with producers, traders, and distributors across MENA, Africa, Europe, and Asia.
- Monitor commodity market trends, freight rates, and forex exposure to maximize trading margins.
- Establish and maintain supply contracts, agency agreements, and offtake deals with key partners.
- Ensure effective risk management through appropriate credit control, hedging, and contract management practices.
- Operational & Logistics Coordination
- Oversee end-to-end trading operations, including shipping, documentation, letters of credit, and customs clearance.
- Collaborate with logistics and finance teams to ensure timely delivery, cost control, and compliance with international trade laws.
- Optimize supply chain efficiency by coordinating with global suppliers, warehouses, and transport partners.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Build and mentor a cross-functional team including sales, operations, and logistics executives.
- Promote a performance-driven culture emphasizing accountability, market responsiveness, and teamwork.
- Facilitate training and succession planning to develop local and regional trading capabilities.
- Stakeholder Management
- Represent the SBU in industry forums, exhibitions, and trade missions to enhance corporate visibility.
- Liaise with senior management to align on corporate policies, financial reporting, and capital investment.
- Maintain strong relationships with banks, inspection agencies, and regulatory authorities to ensure smooth operations.
Desired Candidate Profile
Education:
- Bachelor s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Agricultural Engineering, or related field.
- MBA or Master s in International Trade / Supply Chain is preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum 8 12 years in fertilizer or commodity trading with at least 3 years in a leadership or P&L management role.
- Proven success in international trading (export/import), contract negotiation, and logistics coordination.
- Deep understanding of fertilizer products, market cycles, and pricing mechanisms.
- Familiarity with INCOTERMS, letters of credit, and international banking procedures.
- Existing relationships with global fertilizer producers, traders, and distributors are highly desirable.
Skills:
- Strong analytical and financial acumen.
- Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Strategic thinking with hands-on operational capability.
- Proficient in English; Arabic and French are a plus.
- Advanced Excel and ERP (SAP/Oracle) skills preferred.
