Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

The Strategic Communications Specialist is responsible for developing and executing media relations strategies that support the organization’s communications and business objectives. This role ensures consistent, proactive engagement with key external stakeholders, including local, regional, and international media, partners, and joint ventures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and review of executive communications strategies and policy manuals.

  • Develop and implement an annual media plan aligned with corporate communications and business objectives, with a strong focus on building and maintaining media relationships.

  • Develop and execute positioning strategies for senior leadership.

  • Draft and translate media materials, including press releases, speeches, talking points, and announcements.

  • Lead media relations initiatives and oversee press monitoring, coverage analysis, and sentiment reporting.

  • Identify and prioritize key external stakeholders, tailoring messaging and media targeting accordingly.

  • Maintain and update the media contact database.

  • Act as the lead for all media relations efforts, coordinating with agencies to ensure message consistency across international, regional, and local audiences.

  • Gather and communicate information related to organizational programs, ensuring alignment across partner initiatives.

  • Develop and regularly update press materials, including media kits, FAQs, boilerplates, and releases.

  • Collaborate with internal departments to identify media needs and opportunities.

  • Lead media training sessions, press events, and interview preparation for spokespersons and senior leadership.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Possesses a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
  • Demonstrates a minimum of 5 years of experience in strategic communications, public relations, or a related field, showcasing a proven track record.
  • Exhibits strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to craft clear, concise, and persuasive content for various audiences.
  • Proficient in media relations, with experience building and maintaining relationships with journalists and securing media coverage.
  • Displays excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively interacting with diverse stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrates experience in crisis communications, with the ability to manage and mitigate reputational risks.
  • Possesses strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to analyze data and measure campaign effectiveness.
