Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
The Structural Welder (Steel Works) will be responsible for performing various welding tasks involved in the fabrication, assembly, and repair of structural steel components used in shipyard and industrial projects. The role requires technical proficiency in multiple welding processes, the ability to interpret blueprints, and strict adherence to safety and quality standards.
Job Role & Responsibilities:
- Perform structural welding using SMAW, MIG, or FCAW processes as per project requirements.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, and fabrication blueprints.
- Join, fabricate, and repair steel structures, frames, and assemblies.
- Prepare and set up welding equipment, tools, and materials before starting operations.
- Conduct pre- and post-weld inspections to ensure quality compliance.
- Perform grinding, cutting, and fitting operations as necessary.
- Work collaboratively with fitters, fabricators, and supervisors to complete assigned projects.
- Follow all safety protocols, use PPE properly, and maintain a clean work area.
- Report defects, welding irregularities, or material issues to supervisors.
- Ensure adherence to welding standards and codes applicable to the project.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: ITI / Diploma in Welding or Structural Fabrication.
- Experience: Minimum 4u20136 years of experience as a Structural Welder in shipyard, construction, or industrial steel fabrication.
- Proficient in SMAW, MIG, and FCAW welding techniques.
- Must have hands-on experience in welding heavy structural components.
- Gulf experience preferred.
Required Skills:
- Strong knowledge of various welding techniques and material properties.
- Ability to interpret engineering and welding drawings accurately.
- Proficiency in using welding tools, machines, and measuring instruments.
- Familiarity with quality control procedures and welding inspection standards.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Strong safety awareness and adherence to company safety standards.
- Good physical stamina and attention to detail.
Desired Candidate Profile
Education: ITI / Diploma in Welding or Structural Fabrication.
