Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
The Supervisor (Machine Shop) will be responsible for overseeing and managing all machining operations within the workshop. The role involves supervising machinists and technicians, ensuring the quality and precision of machining work, maintaining production schedules, and coordinating with other departments to achieve project goals efficiently and safely.
Job Role & Responsibilities:
- Supervise day-to-day operations of the machine shop and ensure adherence to work schedules.
- Assign tasks to machinists and monitor their performance to maintain productivity and quality standards.
- Review technical drawings and ensure components are machined according to design specifications.
- Oversee the operation of lathes, milling machines, grinders, and other precision equipment.
- Ensure all tools, machines, and equipment are properly maintained and calibrated.
- Implement and enforce safety regulations and shop policies.
- Troubleshoot machining problems and provide technical guidance to the team.
- Coordinate with maintenance, fabrication, and quality control teams to resolve production issues.
- Maintain documentation related to production, maintenance, and quality checks.
- Train and mentor junior machinists and technicians to enhance skill levels and productivity.
Requirements
- Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Experience: Minimum 5–8 years of experience in a machine shop environment, including at least 2–3 years in a supervisory role.
- Must have hands-on experience with machining operations in shipyard, industrial, or manufacturing sectors.
- Strong knowledge of machining processes, materials, and measurement techniques.
- Experience in Gulf or overseas industrial projects preferred.
Required Skills:
- Excellent knowledge of lathe, milling, drilling, and precision machining equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.
- Strong leadership, team management, and problem-solving skills.
- Good understanding of maintenance and tool management.
- Commitment to safety and quality control procedures.
- Effective communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
