Salary: QAR 3,300-3,500 per month
Job Overview:
The Supervisor (Shipwright u2013 Marine) will be responsible for overseeing and managing all shipwright operations.
Within the shipyard, with a particular focus on mooring, load testing, block
setting, and vessel docking/undocking procedures. The role requires a deep
understanding of marine operations, strong leadership abilities, and hands-on
experience in ship repair and docking activities to ensure safe and efficient
execution of all marine works.
Job Role
& Responsibilities:
Supervise all shipwright-related operations
including mooring, block setting, and vessel docking/undocking.
Plan, organize, and assign tasks to teams
involved in marine and dockyard activities.
Oversee the preparation and setting of keel
blocks and bilge blocks as per vessel docking plans.
Ensure safe mooring of vessels and proper
arrangement of docking and undocking procedures.
Supervise load testing activities for lifting
appliances, blocks, and other shipyard equipment.
Inspect and verify dock blocks, mooring lines,
and support structures for proper condition and alignment.
Coordinate with engineers, marine supervisors,
and safety officers to ensure operational safety and efficiency.
Conduct toolbox talks and enforce compliance
with shipyard safety protocols.
Maintain accurate records of docking, undocking,
and load testing operations.
Troubleshoot and resolve any technical or
manpower issues during marine operations.
Train and guide dock workers, fitters, and
helpers under your supervision.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience:
Education: Diploma / Degree in Marine,
Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent).
Experience: Minimum 8 - 10 years in shipwright or
marine operations within a shipyard environment.
Must have hands-on experience in mooring, load
testing, block setting, and docking/undocking procedures.
At least 3 years of experience in a supervisory
or foreman role in shipyard operations.
Gulf or overseas shipyard experience preferred.
Required
Skills:
Strong knowledge of marine docking and undocking
procedures.
Expertise in mooring operations, load testing,
and block arrangement.
Ability to interpret docking plans, drawings,
and technical specifications.
Leadership and team management skills with
strong decision-making ability.
Excellent communication and coordination with
multi-disciplinary teams.
Good understanding of marine safety regulations
and shipyard operational standards.
Problem-solving attitude with hands-on
supervision experience.
Basic computer literacy for report preparation
and documentation.
