Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Supervise and oversee the repair and maintenance of all port equipment located in the terminal and the workshops through leading a team of technical staff to ensure the availability of equipment for day-to-day operational use.
  • Organizing and coordinating the planned maintenance and repair of port equipment through liaising with relevant department supervisors, inspecting quality and performance specifications of completed work and handling more complex and difficult repairs.
  • Actively follow and promote the ADT Safety and Security policies, ensure that fellow employees and visitors are doing the same and the develop the awareness personal safety.
  • Be proactive in raising of potential safety issues.
  • Supervise the maintenance and repair jobs (electrical, electronic and mechanical) of all port equipment.
  • Ensure that breakdowns are attended to and rectified promptly within agreed MTTR and to make sure that follow-up work is undertaken as necessary and use the RCA if needed.
  • Develop skills and competencies of technicians under his supervision and suggest training for staff.
  • Improve man-hours utilization and hands on wrench time of technicians under his supervision.
  • Ensure quality of maintenance work performed, and history recorded.
  • Monitor the maintenance and repair costs and KPIs within his team, to ensure they are in compliance with the terminal plans, and flag any variances to his manager so that budget/ cost variations can be investigated and controlled.
  • Ensure effective handover of work.
  • Submit routine, critical inspection and monitoring reports by ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Collect & possess all up-to-date software, PLCs with required licenses.
  • Work closely with IT department to understand and analyse Automated Stacking Cranes/TOS interface.
  • Provide close collaboration with the warehouse and the inventory team to initiate requisitions for materials and spare parts and well optimization of stock.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree of mechanical engineering or similar discipline
  • 10 years’ experience in maintenance and repair at container terminals of which 5 years in supervisory level
  • Experience in engine and transmission overhauling, structure and welding inspection, wire ropes replacement, hydraulic circuits maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Well experienced with Lean 6 Sigma, 5S and Kaizen projects
  • Well experienced with using MAXIMO or other similar maintenance management systems
