Supervisor, Security WLP & Hajar Ma'aden Aluminium Company (MAC)

The Security Shift Controller is responsible for the effective implementation of the integrated security plan by coordinating with other Security Shift Controllers and Coordinators. This role ensures the continuous and efficient coverage of the facility and its premises by planning and maintaining a comprehensive duty shift roster for all security personnel.

The Security Shift Controller monitors all shift activities, investigates security incidents, and addresses any reported complaints or problems that occur during shifts. It is imperative that all security team members on duty are thoroughly familiar with the security plan, standard operating procedures, emergency response protocols, and any other relevant policies. The Shift Controller also ensures that all security staff are adequately trained to operate security systems and equipment, including alarm systems, CCTV, and communication devices.

Supervision and oversight of the assigned security personnel are key responsibilities, with a focus on effective access control and surveillance across the facility and premises. The Security Shift Controller is tasked with the execution of security procedures and work orders while also planning and managing work schedules to guarantee sufficient coverage during each shift. The role includes overseeing the shift handover process to ensure all activities, incidents, and the condition of security equipment and surveillance systems are properly logged and reported.

Duties include assigning security personnel to key security points and scheduling patrols. The Security Shift Controller closely monitors access control, conducting security checks on people and vehicles at all entry and exit gates. This process may involve verifying identity cards, vehicle access permits, and inspecting briefcases and vehicles, ensuring that all staff, visitors, and contractors have the appropriate passes to enter or leave the premises.

The role requires conducting security inspections, audits, and surveys as assigned by the Industrial Security Superintendent or Security Manager. The Security Shift Controller oversees and participates in security patrols, surveillance, and search activities, identifying and investigating unexplained objects or potential safety hazards, and taking appropriate actions in accordance with security procedures. Random checks are conducted to ensure the effectiveness of security controls.

Immediate and appropriate action is taken to manage security incidents in line with the Security Plan and Emergency Response Plan. The Security Shift Controller responds to alarm signals, gathers information from relevant personnel, investigates incidents, and informs the Industrial Security Superintendent or Security Manager as needed. Full incident reports are prepared and submitted for review.

The Security Shift Controller organizes and participates in the escort of high-risk materials, and VIP staff or visitors as required. Oversight of vehicle parking areas is also essential to ensure compliance with traffic rules, regulate traffic flow and speed limits, and address cases of illegal parking as reported by security staff.

The role includes responding promptly to security and emergency cases, participating in emergency response procedures, and providing support to external emergency response staff. The Security Shift Controller also ensures that all security personnel are presentable in company uniform and that security equipment, such as barriers, lighting, alarms, CCTV, and communication systems, are properly maintained, with deficiencies reported to the appropriate supervisor.

Training and ongoing guidance for security staff are provided, with on-the-job and in-post instruction covering security procedures, work orders, and emergency response protocols. The Security Shift Controller offers recommendations for improving security measures, systems, and procedures, and briefs staff on any changes to policies or temporary security measures.

Accurate record-keeping is enforced, requiring security staff to document all visitors, vehicles, and materials entering or leaving the premises, as well as all relevant security activities and incidents during their shift. All-important incidents and issues, such as breaches of security rules or inappropriate behavior, must be reported. A smooth and effective handover of duties to the next Security Shift Controller or Coordinator is ensured.

The Security Shift Controller is also responsible for the administration of personnel matters, including leave, rotation, and emergency contact information for all security staff. The performance of assigned personnel is monitored and supervised, with participation in their annual performance appraisals.
