Roles & Responsibilities

Role Purpose:

Lead and manage the supply chain function to ensure product availability, optimized inventory levels, controlled landed cost, compliant import operations, and efficient end-to-end execution from forecasting and ordering through shipment clearance and warehouse receipt. The Supply Chain Manager sets department direction, manages supplier and service-provider relationships, drives KPI performance, and builds a capable team that supports the company s commercial and operational objectives.


Key Accountabilities


Supply Chain Strategy and Governance

Set the overall supply chain operating framework, priorities, controls, and KPIs in line with business objectives and approved policies.

Translate annual sales, marketing, and brand plans into supply strategies and execution plans that support continuity of stock and service.

Lead demand review and supply alignment discussions with relevant stakeholders to ensure realistic planning and disciplined decision-making.

Establish, update, and enforce supply chain procedures, controls, and service standards across the department.

Demand Planning and Inventory Management

Review and approve purchase plans, replenishment decisions, safety stock assumptions, and order timing across all managed portfolios.

Balance stock availability, inventory turnover, expiry exposure, working capital, and warehouse capacity to optimize inventory health.

Monitor stock risks including shortages, overstock, slow-moving items, and near/cross-expiry inventory, and ensure action plans are implemented.

Validate supply assumptions related to new launches, promotional activity, exceptional demand, and product phase-in/phase-out plans.

Procurement, Import Operations, and Supplier Management

Supervise and approve placement of orders, shipment arrangements, key documentation, and financial instruments related to imported goods.

Maintain and develop relationships with suppliers, freight forwarders, transporters, clearing agents, and other service providers.

Negotiate commercial and operational terms where applicable to optimize service levels, lead times, freight cost, and local charges.

Resolve escalated supply, shipment, documentation, or claim issues and ensure timely closure with the relevant internal and external parties.

Stay abreast of customs, shipping, administrative, and regulatory developments that may affect cost, timing, or compliance.

Cost Control, Budgeting, and Performance Management

Own the yearly supply chain budget and monitor department spending, landed factors, shipment cost drivers, and budget adherence.

Review and approve landed cost studies, cost and selling reports, and variance analyses for new and existing products.

Drive cost optimization initiatives related to freight, local charges, duty impact, shipment consolidation, and process efficiency.

Provide management with timely visibility on open orders, inventory exposure, landed cost performance, claims, and operational risks.

Cross-Functional Coordination and Service Delivery

Coordinate closely with Marketing, Brand Managers, Finance, Treasury, Warehouse, and Operations teams to ensure timely and aligned execution.

Align unloading priorities, receipt planning, and space considerations with the warehouse and operations teams.

Support supplier agreements, service level agreements, and supply-related contractual clauses in coordination with Finance, Legal, and other stakeholders.

Ensure effective communication and issue resolution across internal customers and external partners.

People Leadership and Capability Building

Lead, structure, and develop the supply chain team, including Team Leaders, Officers, and support staff, to ensure clear accountability and productivity.

Set objectives, review performance, coach team members, and ensure succession and backup coverage for critical activities.

Promote a culture of ownership, accuracy, continuous improvement, and collaboration within the department.

Identify capability gaps and implement training and development actions to strengthen technical and managerial competency.

Continuous Improvement, Reporting, and Compliance

Drive process review, workflow simplification, system discipline, and reporting improvements to strengthen control and efficiency.

Ensure master data governance, record retention, shipment documentation, and departmental files are properly maintained.

Maintain readiness for audits and ensure compliance with internal policies, contractual obligations, and applicable operational requirements.

Prepare and present periodic management reports covering KPIs, supply risks, inventory health, cost performance, and improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

Bachelor s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field.

MBA or Master s degree in a relevant field is a plus.
