Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

The Head of Supply Chain is responsible for leading and optimizing the end-to-end supply chain function for the edible oil and palm oil refinery business, covering procurement, import logistics, inventory management, production planning, warehousing, transportation, and distribution. The role ensures uninterrupted material availability, efficient movement of goods, cost optimization, and supply continuity to support manufacturing operations and market demand.


Key Responsibilities

Supply Chain Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and execute the supply chain strategy aligned with business growth, operational efficiency, and cost optimization objectives.

  • Lead end-to-end supply chain operations, including sourcing, planning, logistics, warehousing, and distribution.

  • Ensure seamless coordination between procurement, refinery operations, sales, and distribution teams.

Procurement & Material Planning

  • Oversee sourcing and procurement of crude palm oil (CPO), olein, packaging materials, chemicals, and other raw materials.

  • Manage import planning, vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and supplier performance.

  • Ensure optimal material availability to support uninterrupted refinery operations while minimizing inventory carrying costs.

Production Planning & Inventory Management

  • Lead demand forecasting, production planning, and Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) processes.

  • Optimize inventory levels for raw materials, finished goods, and packaging materials.

  • Monitor stock accuracy, slow-moving inventory, and working capital efficiency.

Logistics & Distribution

  • Manage inbound and outbound logistics, including port operations, customs clearance, transport, and last-mile distribution.

  • Oversee warehouse operations and distribution networks to ensure on-time deliveries and service excellence.

  • Drive freight optimization, route efficiency, and logistics cost control.

Risk Management & Compliance

  • Mitigate supply risks related to imports, port delays, infrastructure constraints, and market volatility.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, trade documentation, quality standards, and safety protocols.

  • Develop contingency plans to support supply continuity in challenging operating environments.

Team Management & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead, develop, and manage supply chain teams across planning, procurement, logistics, and warehousing.

  • Drive process improvements, automation, KPI management, and supply chain performance reporting.

  • Promote operational excellence through continuous improvement initiatives and best practices.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred).

  • 12+ years of progressive supply chain experience, with significant experience in edible oil, palm oil, FMCG, or process manufacturing.

  • Strong expertise in import logistics, refinery planning, inventory control, and distribution in emerging markets.

  • Experience managing supply chain operations in Africa.
