Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

We are seeking a passionate, qualified, and safety-conscious Swimming Coach to join our Physical Education department. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality swimming instruction to students of all age groups and skill levels, ranging from beginners to competitive squad members. You will be responsible for fostering a love for the sport, ensuring rigorous adherence to health and safety protocols, and supporting the schoolu2019s extracurricular aquatics program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instruction: Deliver structured swimming lessons following the schoolu2019s curriculum, adapting techniques to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Squad Development: Lead and manage competitive swimming squads, including training sessions, conditioning programs, and preparation for school galas.
  • Safety & Compliance: Maintain the highest standards of pool safety, enforce pool rules, and conduct regular checks of the aquatic facility to ensure it remains hazard-free.
  • Administration: Monitor student progress, maintain accurate attendance records, and provide feedback for termly student reports.
  • Extracurriculars: Organize and assist with school swimming galas, fixtures, and tournaments, including events that may occur outside of standard school hours.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Head of PE and other staff members to integrate swimming into the broader school sports program.
  • Professionalism: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and ensure all certifications remain current.

Requirements

Desired Candidate Profile

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Certification: Valid Swimming Instructor/Coach certification (e.g., ASA/Swim England Level 1 or 2, AUSTSWIM, or equivalent).
  • Lifesaving: Current Lifeguard qualification accredited by relevant UAE authorities (e.g., Emirates International Accreditation Centre) or a recognized international equivalent (e.g., RLSS/Highfield).
  • Medical: Valid First Aid and CPR/AED certification.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a swimming instructor or coach, preferably within an educational or school setting.
  • Communication: Excellent command of the English language; ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Soft Skills: Strong motivational skills, a patient teaching style, and an unwavering commitment to child safeguarding and inclusion.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience in coaching competitive swimming squads.
  • Knowledge of UAE health and safety regulations for public and school swimming pools.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, international school environment
