Roles & Responsibilities
Job Description:
As a System Administrator at Pharos University, you will play a crucial role in managing and supporting our IT systems to facilitate an optimal learning and working environment. You will be responsible for maintaining our servers and ensuring the security and reliability of our technological resources.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Management: Install, configure, and maintain servers, workstations, and other IT infrastructure.
- Security: Implement and enforce security measures to protect university data and systems.
- User Support: Provide technical support to faculty, staff, and students, addressing hardware and software issues promptly.
- Backup and Recovery: Oversee backup procedures, perform regular backups, and develop and test disaster recovery plans.
- System Upgrades: Plan and execute system updates, patches, and upgrades to maintain optimal performance.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of system configurations, changes, and procedures.
- Collaboration: Work with other IT team members and departments to improve IT processes and implement new technologies.
Desired Candidate Profile
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor s degree in Computer Engineering or a related field with practical experience.
- Experience: 5 years experience or more as a System Administrator or in a similar role, with a strong background in managing Windows environments.
Required Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Server administration, DNS, and DHCP.
- Experience in Windows Deployment Services (WDS), Microsoft Windows Server (installations,
updates, and patch management), Microsoft Key Management Services (KMS), Microsoft IIS
installation and configuration, and Microsoft SQL installation and administration. - Strong knowledge of QNAP storage systems including configuration, management, utilization
monitoring, implementing access controls, and resolving issues. - Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, including Group Policies, user
management, and domain services. - Proficient in using and managing tools like System Center Data Protection Manager (DPM),
- Backup Exec, and Tapes solutions for data protection and recovery.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (Hyper-V) and cloud services.
- Knowledge of configuration and management of terminals and zero clients.
- Strong understanding of IT security practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Effective communication skills and a customer-oriented approach.
