Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare and file Value Added Tax (VAT) returns accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations to minimize penalties.
- Manage and reconcile VAT accounts, including input and output tax, to maintain accurate financial records and support financial reporting.
- Conduct VAT audits and investigations, identifying and resolving discrepancies to ensure compliance and mitigate financial risks.
- Advise on the VAT implications of complex transactions, providing expert guidance to internal stakeholders to optimize tax efficiency.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in VAT legislation and regulations, proactively assessing their impact on the business and implementing necessary adjustments.
- Assist in the preparation of corporate tax returns, ensuring compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations, including income tax.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as finance and legal, to gather information and ensure accurate tax reporting and compliance.
- Develop and maintain VAT policies and procedures, ensuring they are documented and followed consistently across the organization.
- Identify and implement VAT planning opportunities to minimize tax liabilities and maximize cash flow, contributing to the company's financial goals.
- Represent the company in VAT-related communications with tax authorities, providing support during audits and inquiries to protect the company's interests.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in VAT and corporate tax, with a strong understanding of VAT regulations and tax laws.
- Proven experience in VAT return preparation and filing, experience with VAT audits, and VAT accounting principles.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data and provide recommendations to enhance tax efficiency and minimize liabilities.
- Proficiency in tax software and MS Office Suite, especially Excel, and experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, collaborating effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with a commitment to meeting deadlines and adhering to compliance standards.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
