Job Description
Position: Teacher of English (Middle School)
School: Muna British Academy, Abu Dhabi
Organization: Aldar Education
Start Date: Academic Year 2026–2027
Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
Demonstrate a clear understanding of the curriculum for effective implementation.
Use appropriate syllabus, materials, and schemes of work to develop students’ English skills.
Organize classroom resources and displays to create a positive learning environment.
Plan, prepare, and present lessons catering to all ability levels.
Consistently plan long-, medium-, and short-term lessons to meet individual needs.
Create a learning climate conducive to outstanding teaching practice.
Motivate students with creative, engaging, and challenging lessons.
Set clear teaching objectives and monitor achievement.
Reflect on teaching practice and adjust plans and curriculum as needed.
Support SEN (POD), EAL, and G&T students through differentiation.
Facilitate Hybrid / Distance / Face-to-Face learning effectively.
Assessment and Data
Take responsibility for student progress.
Use student data to set targets, monitor progress, and provide feedback.
Meet all assessment and record-keeping requirements using Target Tracker.
Use data insights for lesson planning and intervention.
Provide feedback to parents during Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs).
Behaviour Management and Duties
Follow school policies on behaviour, code of conduct, and safeguarding.
Manage classes effectively to inspire and challenge students.
Maintain strong relationships and act as a positive role model.
Promote self-control, independence, and high expectations of behaviour.
Ensure a safe, secure environment that promotes social and academic growth.
Carry out duties as directed by leadership.
Wider Professional Responsibilities
Work collaboratively in curriculum action groups for planning and resources.
Support school events, trips, and Extra-Curricular Activities (ECAs).
Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and well-being.
Contribute to the school’s ethos and community.
Lead at least one weekly ECA throughout the academic year.
Pursue professional development to maintain high-quality teaching.
Requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in a related subject.
PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
Experience
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
Mandatory experience in an international school setting.
Experience teaching EAL students (English as an Additional Language).
