Roles & Responsibilities

Main Duties

· Support students with individual needs under the guidance of our SENCo

· Encourage the participation of all students in learning and extracurricular activities

· Use effective behaviour management strategies consistently in line with the school’s policy and procedures

· Organise and manage resources

· Observe student performance and discuss observations to the class teacher

· Read and discuss lesson plans shared before lessons

· Communicate effectively with other colleagues

· Develop appropriate skills, qualifications, and/or experience needed for the role, through in school professional development opportunities

· Promote and follow safeguarding guidance and child protection procedures

Requirements

Essential

· Enjoy working with children

· Resilient, positive, and enthusiastic about making a difference

· Good literacy and numeracy skills

· Good organisational skills

· Excellent verbal communication skills

· Sensitivity and understanding, to help build good relationships with students

· A commitment to getting the best outcomes for all students, and promoting the ethos and values of the school

Desirable

· Experience working in a school environment or other educational setting

· Experience working with children / young people

· Experience planning and delivering learning activities

· Understanding and use of Individual Educational Plans (IEPs)
