Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Duties & Responsibilities:

Hardware Management:

  • Execute hardware replacement in line with spare parts management process.
  • Ensure operational reliability of all VAS-related hardware components.

Software Management:

  • Manage software lifecycle including patches, EPs, and ICPs.
  • Conduct impact analysis, planning, coordination with stakeholders, implementation, and post-upgrade verification.
  • Maintain version compliance with OEM/vendor recommendations.

Incident & Problem Management:

  • Raise and track CSRs with vendors (Sinch, Mobileum, Synapse, Ribbon) until closure.
  • Monitor alarms, troubleshoot, and restore services within SLA timelines.
  • Perform RCA for recurring or major issues and share corrective/preventive measures.

Preventive & Health Maintenance:

  • Conduct periodic health checks for all VAS nodes.
  • Implement preventive maintenance measures to reduce downtime and operational risks.

Business Configuration:

  • Deliver and apply business configurations on SMSC and USSD GW to support offers, campaigns, and other services.
  • Ensure end-to-end validation (design, configuration, testing, UAT, and sign-off).

Security & Log Analysis:

  • Perform system hardening for all VAS nodes, aligned with Ericsson and customer security standards.
  • Conduct daily log analysis on firewall nodes (signaling, voice, GTP, SMS, etc.).
  • Perform end-to-end flow analysis to detect and mitigate security attacks.
  • Implement new configurations to prevent attack flows from reaching the Core Network.

Reporting & Governance:

  • Deliver regular operational/performance reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly) covering KPIs, SLA adherence, incident trends, and security threats.
  • Provide ad-hoc reporting for major incidents or business requirements

Business & Event Coordination:

  • Engage with business teams for requirement gathering and solution validation.
  • Provide enhanced monitoring and incident readiness during major events (e.g., Eid, New Year, National Day)

License Management:

  • Monitor and manage license utilization across VAS platforms.
  • Apply, renew, and manage temporary licenses when required.

System Integration:

  • Integrate new VAS systems/nodes with the Intelligent Network and Core platforms.
  • Validate end-to-end flows to ensure smooth operation.

Documentation:

  • Maintain updated technical and operational documentation for all platforms, configurations, and integrations.
  • Provide updated runbooks, SOPs, and security guidelines.

Support Model:

  • Business Hours: 8x5 (standard office hours).
  • On-Call Support: 24x7 availability for critical incidents.
  • Holiday/Off-Hour Support: Required during special service launches (e.g., Eid offers, National Day campaigns etc.)

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualifications: Degree in Engineering preferably in Electronics, Computer science, Telecommunication or equivalent

Total Experience: 5-10 years in Telecom Industry

Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

Good Understanding of VAS domain & products.

Experience in Operations & maintenance with good troubleshooting skills.

Good hands on experience Unix/Linux, Python, Java, SOAP, REST, GIT & CI/CD.

Hands on experience in defect testing, reproducing defects in LAB, defect deployment & load testing.

Experience of JIRA, Splunk, AppD, JMeter, & SQLDeveloper tools.

Good hands on knowledge on micro service application management on Docker & Kubernetes.

Hands on experience in troubleshooting & analysis of Wireshark trace & heap dump
