Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
The Technical Director will work closely with the client, consultants, and contractors to ensure that design solutions are technically sound, aligned with project objectives, compliant with local regulations, and delivered within schedule and budget.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Provide strategic technical leadership across all disciplines including architecture, structural, civil, and MEP.
- Oversee the technical development of hospitality, residential, retail, and mixed-use assets.
- Ensure all design packages meet project performance requirements, international standards, and local authority regulations.
- Lead design reviews and technical audits throughout the project lifecycle.
Design Management & Coordination
- Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary consultants and design teams.
- Review and approve design deliverables at concept, schematic, detailed design, and IFC stages.
- Resolve complex engineering and design challenges across multiple assets.
- Ensure integration between architectural design, engineering systems, and operational requirements.
Stakeholder & Client Management
- Act as the primary technical interface between the client, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Provide expert technical advice to senior leadership and project management teams.
- Support project decision-making by evaluating technical risks, constructability, and value engineering opportunities.
Project Delivery Support
- Collaborate with project directors and construction teams to ensure designs are practical and buildable.
- Oversee technical compliance during procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning phases.
- Review contractor technical submissions, shop drawings, and material approvals.
Quality, Compliance & Governance
- Ensure adherence to Saudi building codes, international standards, and hospitality brand requirements.
- Implement technical governance frameworks and quality assurance procedures.
- Monitor technical performance and mitigate engineering risks throughout project delivery.
Desired Candidate Profile
Qualifications
- Bachelor s Degree in Engineering or Architecture from a recognized university.
- Master s degree in a related discipline is preferred.
- Professional membership (e.g., LEED AP, PMI, ICE, CIOB, RIBA ) is highly desirable.
- Minimum 20 years of professional experience in engineering, architecture, or technical project delivery.
- Extensive experience in hospitality and mixed-use mega developments.
- Proven experience in large-scale projects in the Middle East, preferably in Saudi Arabia.
- Experience working with international PMC, developers, or engineering consultancies.
- Strong background in managing multidisciplinary design teams and complex technical packages.
