Roles & Responsibilities

Job Purpose: The Technical Head – Tailoring is a senior technical leadership role responsible for ensuring the highest standards of pattern making, new category / product development, garment construction, training, and production process efficiency for Tailored and Made to Measure (MTM) garments.

Key Accountabilities:

Pattern Making for Tailoring & MTM:

· Analyse, review and evaluate existing patterns for corrections in both Tailoring and Made to Measure (MTM) garments.

· Coordinate for digitisation of manual patterns (NPD and Store Pattern making) into CAD format for accurate, long-term storage of customer profiles and internal archives.

· Maintain a centralised, searchable digital pattern library linked to customer preferences and body measurements as per company standards.

· Ensure all patterns are aligned with company fit standards and are production-ready with optimal fabric usage for cost efficiency and construction ease.

Garment Construction & Technical R&D:

· Lead technical development of new garment styles and constructions (including pattern making), ensuring manufacturing feasibility without compromising design intent.

· Support innovation in tailoring through research and implementation of modern techniques and global fashion references.

· Standardise construction quality across categories: not limited to shirts, trousers, waistcoats, jackets, ceremonial pieces and other tailored products.

Training & Skill Development:

· Design and deliver technical training programs for:

o Factory-based tailors and technicians (construction, sewing, and finishing techniques).

o Master Tailors at stores (body measurement techniques, fit corrections, garment customisation, and customer-facing standards).

· Establish consistent tailoring and measurement protocols that ensure excellence in MTM fittings and final output.

· Build a continuous learning culture through skill assessments, workshops, and technical refreshers.

SOPs and Quality Standards:

· Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for pattern development, tailoring, design transfers, and quality control.

· Ensure processes reflect industry best practices, promote efficiency, and align with brand goals for craftsmanship and customer satisfaction.

· Periodically review and improve processes through cross-functional feedback and benchmarking.

Technical Leadership & Cross-Functional Alignment

· Serve as the primary technical authority across tailoring, pattern, and garment construction domains.

· Collaborate closely with design, merchandising, store teams, and production heads to ensure alignment from concept to customer delivery.

· Solve fit, construction, and production issues quickly and effectively through technical insight.

Desired Candidate Profile

1. Diploma/Degree in Fashion Technology, Apparel Production (Bespoke Tailoring), or related field.

2. Minimum 15 - 20 years of experience in pattern making and garment construction, with at least 3–5 years in a senior or leadership technical role.

3. Expert understanding of tailoring techniques is essential, with experience as a Master Tailor (Bespoke / Custom Tailoring and MTM).

4. Expert proficiency in Gerber CAD software, including pattern making and digitisation is highly desired.

5. Knowledge of global tailoring standards, measurement accuracy, and customer-centric fit engineering.

6. Strong training and mentoring capability, both in production and store settings.

7. Excellent understanding of digitisation workflows and record-keeping in tailoring operations.

8. Passion for innovation, quality craftsmanship, and customer experience.

9. Effective communicator and cross-functional leader.

10. Presentable personality in the age group of 45 to 50 years.

Proficiency in spoken and written English language is a must.
