Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Monitor all aspects of Property, Liability, Casualty, Marine and Engineering Underwriting business lines and provide timely reports to the Head of Technical Department.


Underwriting & Risk Assessment

  • Guide underwriters on renewals and new accounts, providing technical expertise and risk management support.
  • Conduct risk assessments, including site inspections and data analysis.
  • Ensure accounts meet risk limits and comply with policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in audits to ensure proper application of underwriting rules.
  • Collaborate with Technical Claims on coverage issues and adverse risk developments.

Business Development

  • Identify and develop growth opportunities with distributors.
  • Support cross-selling to increase product density.
  • Coach sales and distribution teams on best practices.
  • Manage relationships with agents/brokers to achieve growth, retention, and profitability.

Pricing & Commercial Decisions

  • Analyze business metrics (loss ratio, expenses, product mix) to improve profitability and customer relations.
  • Support design and implementation of rating tools and methodologies.
  • Monitor portfolio exposure to ensure compliance with limits and regulations.

Desired Candidate Profile

• Relevant commercial lines underwriting experience in insurance companies.

• ACII, CPCU/ FIII / AIII qualification preferred.

• 8+ years of Insurance industry experience in UAE – Commercial Insurance Setting.

• Strong knowledge of insurance laws, regulations, and industry best practices.

• Excellent understanding of risk assessment and underwriting principles.

• Familiarity with underwriting software and other relevant tools.

• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.

• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with a team.

• Sound decision-making skills and ability to exercise judgment in complex situations.
