Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Monitor all aspects of Property, Liability, Casualty, Marine and Engineering Underwriting business lines and provide timely reports to the Head of Technical Department.
Underwriting & Risk Assessment
- Guide underwriters on renewals and new accounts, providing technical expertise and risk management support.
- Conduct risk assessments, including site inspections and data analysis.
- Ensure accounts meet risk limits and comply with policies and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in audits to ensure proper application of underwriting rules.
- Collaborate with Technical Claims on coverage issues and adverse risk developments.
Business Development
- Identify and develop growth opportunities with distributors.
- Support cross-selling to increase product density.
- Coach sales and distribution teams on best practices.
- Manage relationships with agents/brokers to achieve growth, retention, and profitability.
Pricing & Commercial Decisions
- Analyze business metrics (loss ratio, expenses, product mix) to improve profitability and customer relations.
- Support design and implementation of rating tools and methodologies.
- Monitor portfolio exposure to ensure compliance with limits and regulations.
Desired Candidate Profile
• Relevant commercial lines underwriting experience in insurance companies.
• ACII, CPCU/ FIII / AIII qualification preferred.
• 8+ years of Insurance industry experience in UAE – Commercial Insurance Setting.
• Strong knowledge of insurance laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
• Excellent understanding of risk assessment and underwriting principles.
• Familiarity with underwriting software and other relevant tools.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with a team.
• Sound decision-making skills and ability to exercise judgment in complex situations.
