Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Inspection & Monitoring: Conduct inspections of XLPE cable sealing ends (11kV to 400kV), monitor silicon oil gauges, and report abnormalities or missing components like route markers and link boxes.
  • Maintenance & Repairs: Perform repairs on silicone oil leaks, oil reservoirs, transformer sealing ends, and cable glands; carry out over-sheath repairs and sealing/capping of various cable types.
  • Oil Handling Operations: Operate vacuum plants and oil pressure tanks; charge oil in oil-filled cables and tanks as part of routine maintenance.
  • Site Patrolling & Supervision: Patrol cable routes, monitor gauges, and supervise third-party excavation works to ensure compliance with regulations and approved methods.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Submit daily reports to supervisors, prepare warning notices with detailed site information, and immediately report serious violations.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering / Civil Engineering from a recognized institution / college / university with Technical Trade certificate
  • Has the ability to read and write English at a secondary level.
  • Ability to communicate, read and write in English at Secondary School Level.
  • Trade certificate holders in installations, operation and maintenance of EHV cables (XLPE and Oil-filled) up to & including 400kV and able to learn, can read and understand instructions, drawings and procedures.
