Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
The Terminal Planner – Operations within ACT is responsible for the efficient and optimal planning and coordination of container terminal operations. This role involves developing and implementing strategies daily across all terminal planning activities (vessel, yard, and gate) to maximize terminal productivity, capacity utilization, and resource allocation. It requires a strong understanding of terminal operations, excellent analytical skills, and mandatory in-depth knowledge of Terminal Operating Systems (TOS). The role involves fostering stakeholder relationships with shipping lines, agencies, and port authorities to ensure optimal operations.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Planning Management:
- Develop and implement comprehensive terminal operating plans, including vessel scheduling, yard management, gate flows, and equipment allocation.
- Optimize resource allocation for efficient container handling, storage, and retrieval as per operational priorities.
- Continuously monitor operations, identify potential bottlenecks, and proactively adjust plans to minimize delays.
- Serve as a key point of contact for vessel operators and internal departments regarding schedules and operational updates.
- Prepare and analyze operational data to measure performance against KPIs (vessel productivity, yard utilization, etc.).
- Adhere to terminal safety regulations and ensure planning activities comply with relevant company policies.
- Proficiently utilize N4 TOS for planning, optimization, and execution (Vessel, Yard, Gate, and Reefer modules).
Customer Service & Stakeholder Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with shipping lines, customs, port authorities, and government agencies.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to streamline terminal processes and ensure timely communication with customers.
Safety and Security:
- Implement and enforce ACT safety standards and conduct regular inspections of workplaces.
- Oversee security measures to protect cargo and assets and investigate incidents to implement preventive measures.
Performance Management & Continuous Improvement:
- Monitor and analyze KPIs to identify trends and eliminate waste in terminal operation processes.
- Foster a continuous improvement culture and lead initiatives to enhance efficiency and productivity.
