Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
The Telecom & Civil Rigger is responsible for executing rigging, climbing, installation, and civil-related support works on telecom sites, towers, and rooftops. The role involves installation of antennas, feeders, MW links, steel structures, and assisting with minor civil works such as tower strengthening, bracket fabrication, and support structure installation. The job requires strong rigging skills combined with an understanding of telecom and civil site requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Telecom Rigging Responsibilities
- Perform tower climbing and rooftop rigging work safely and efficiently.
- Install, mount, and align RF antennas, RRUs, microwave dishes, and feeder/fiber cables.
- Execute telecom site upgrades, swap projects, and expansions.
- Route and secure cables using trays, ladders, and tie systems per telecom standards.
- Perform MW alignment and antenna tilt adjustments as instructed.
- Ensure compliance with operator installation guidelines and OEM specifications.
2. Civil & Structural Responsibilities
- Assist in tower reinforcement, bracing, and additional steel support installation.
- Install civil mounting components such as brackets, poles, anchor bolts, clamps, and support frames.
- Support minor civil works including drilling, anchoring, trenching for grounding, and small concrete tasks (if required).
- Perform safe lifting, hoisting, and lowering of heavy components using rigging tools.
- Inspect towers and rooftops for structural safety before climbing or loading equipment.
3. Safety & Compliance
- Follow all HSE policies, tower safety rules, and working-at-heights procedures.
- Conduct Job Hazard Assessments (JHA) and participate in toolbox talks before every activity.
- Perform daily inspections of harnesses, helmets, ropes, pulleys, and rigging tools.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations for both telecom and civil tasks.
- Report any unsafe conditions, structural risks, or hazards immediately.
4. Quality Assurance & Documentation
- Complete site forms, rigging checklists, and photo documentation.
- Record materials used and equipment installed.
- Assist with as-built documentation and handover packages.
- Communicate progress, challenges, and delays to supervisors promptly.
5. Team Coordination
- Work closely with telecom technicians, civil teams, drivers, welders, and engineers.
- Coordinate lifting activities and ensure proper communication during rigging operations.
- Provide support during emergency maintenance or night shifts when required.
Qualifications & Experience
- 1 4 years of experience in telecom rigging and/or civil rigging works.
- Certified Tower Climber & Rescue Training (mandatory).
- Experience in tower installation, antenna mounting, MW alignment, and cable routing.
- Knowledge of civil rigging, steel structures, anchoring, and support installations.
- Working-at-height medical fitness certificate (preferred).
- Familiarity with basic civil tools: drills, anchors, brackets, grinders, and power tools.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong climbing and rigging ability.
- Knowledge of telecom installation standards and civil support structures.
- Experience with ropes, pulleys, hoists, and lifting gear.
- Ability to work safely in high-risk environments.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Physically fit and capable of carrying tools and materials.
