Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Performs skilled and semi-skilled carpentry work involving repair, alteration, fabrication, and installation of wooden and related structures within hospital facilities.

  • Carries out carpentry repairs and replacements for interior and exterior areas, including doors, windowsills, frames, cabinets, drawers, partitions, and fixtures.

  • Carries out masonry works, marble polishing, repairs, grouting, wall painting, etc. across hospital facilities.

  • Ensure compliance with hospital safety procedures, infection control requirements, and Facilities Management standards during all carpentry activities.

  • Supports locksmith-related tasks, including installation, repair, and replacement of door locks and basic key control as assigned.

  • Completes assigned work orders accurately and promptly in accordance with approved schedules.

  • Estimates basic material and time requirements for assigned carpentry works and reports requirements to the supervisor.

  • Coordinates with other maintenance trades, including civil, electrical, and mechanical teams, to support integrated maintenance activities.

  • Maintains tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe, clean, and organized condition.

  • Assists in moving furniture, fixtures, and equipment as required to facilitate carpentry works.

  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and suggests enhanced materials, methods, or techniques to improve workmanship and efficiency.

  • Implements sustainable practices and environmentally responsible methods in Facilities Management operations where applicable.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • 10 years School Certificate with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the civil maintenance works 

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a healthcare organization’s maintenance department or similar institution.

  • Knowledge of carpentry tools, materials, techniques, and finishing methods.

  • Knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance workflows.

  • Skills in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.

  • Skills in reading and interpreting basic engineering or maintenance drawings.

  • Skills in basic computer applications for work orders and documentation.

  • Ability to read and write English.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary facilities team.
