Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Safely operate a commercial truck and trailer, adhering strictly to all traffic laws and company safety regulations to ensure the secure transport of goods.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and equipment, meticulously documenting any mechanical issues or required maintenance to maintain vehicle integrity.
- Load and unload cargo, ensuring proper securing and weight distribution to prevent damage and maintain vehicle stability throughout the journey.
- Plan routes and navigate using GPS and other tools, optimizing for efficiency while considering traffic, weather conditions, and delivery schedules for timely deliveries.
- Maintain accurate records of driving hours, fuel consumption, and delivery logs, complying with Hours of Service (HOS) regulations and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, other drivers, and customers, providing updates on progress, delays, or any issues encountered during transit.
- Follow all company procedures for handling hazardous materials (if applicable), including proper labeling, placarding, and emergency response protocols.
- Maintain a clean and professional appearance of the vehicle, inside and out, reflecting positively on the company's image and brand.
- Report any incidents, accidents, or near misses immediately to the appropriate authorities and company personnel, following established protocols.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries and interactions, addressing any customer inquiries or concerns with professionalism and courtesy.
Desired Candidate Profile
- High school diploma or equivalent, demonstrating a foundational level of education.
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with necessary endorsements, reflecting legal authorization to operate commercial vehicles.
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable experience driving commercial trucks, showcasing practical experience in the field.
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, for effective communication.
- Proven experience in the trucking industry, providing a foundation of industry knowledge.
- Clean driving record with no major violations, indicating a history of safe driving practices.
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations and safety protocols, showcasing a commitment to safety.
- Ability to operate and maintain electronic logging devices (ELDs), demonstrating technical competence.
- Self-motivated, reliable, and punctual, demonstrating a strong work ethic and commitment to the job.
- Ability to lift and maneuver heavy objects, indicating the physical capability required for the role.
