Roles & Responsibilities

JOB DESCRIPTION:
1. Upholstery Work
  • Measure, cut, and sew fabrics, leather, vinyl, and other materials for furniture and fit-out elements.
  • Fit, cover, and finish furniture frames, panels, and seating units produced by the joinery workshop.
  • Apply padding, foam, springs, webbing, and other upholstery materials to achieve the desired comfort and design.
  • Repair, refurbish, or reupholster existing furniture and fittings as required.
2. Collaboration & Production Support
  • Work closely with the Foreman-Upholstery to coordinate material compatibility and fit-out sequencing.
  • Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and design details provided by the design or production teams.
  • Follow instructions from the Foreman-Upholstery regarding project priorities, finishes, and delivery timelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of materials used and report material shortages or defects.
3. Quality & Safety
  • Ensure all upholstery work meets company quality standards and client specifications.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
  • Comply with health and safety regulations and company policies.
4. Tools & Equipment
  • Operate and maintain upholstery tools and machinery such as staple guns, sewing machines, foam cutters, and pneumatic tools.
  • Ensure proper care and maintenance of equipment and report malfunctions promptly.

Desired Candidate Profile

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or technical/vocational certification in Upholstery or related field.
  • Knowledge of different upholstery materials, fabrics, and finishing techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong craftsmanship and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with furniture construction and interior fit-out processes is an advantage
YEARS OF EXPERTISE/SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in upholstery work, preferably within carpentry, joinery, or fit-out environments.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual skill
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Time management and problem-solving skills.
