Job Summary:
The Asset Accountant is responsible for monitoring, recording, and managing company s assets. The role ensures that all asset-related financial information is accurate, up to date, and compliant with relevant accounting standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Maintain and regularly update the fixed asset register with accurate and complete information.
• Record all fixed asset acquisitions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation in accordance with accounting standards.
• Verify supporting documentation for all asset transactions before posting to the ledger.
• Reconcile asset accounts on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy in the financial statements.
• Conduct periodic reviews of asset data to identify discrepancies and initiate corrective actions.
• Support and coordinate physical asset counts to verify the existence and condition of assets.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies between physical counts and accounting records.
• Prepare detailed fixed asset schedules and reports for management review.
• Provide asset-related data and schedules to support internal and external audit requirements.
• Assist in the preparation of year-end financial statements with accurate asset disclosures.
• Monitor and track ongoing capital projects to ensure proper capitalization of costs.
• Review depreciation calculations for accuracy and compliance with company policy.
• Ensure adherence to relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal control procedures.
• Maintain secure and organized records for all fixed asset transactions and supporting documentation.
• Collaborate with procurement, finance, and operations teams to ensure accurate asset tracking.
• Provide recommendations to improve fixed asset management processes and controls.
• Support management in forecasting and budgeting for capital expenditure.
• Assist in developing and implementing asset policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
• Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum 1-3 years of experience in accounting field,
• Fluency in Kurdish or Arabic language, in addition to English language,
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and Accounting ERP systems)
• Excellent communication, and negotiation skills.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
• Basic knowledge of fixed asset accounting principles and depreciation methods.
• Ability to analyze data, prepare reports, and drive performance improvements.
• Skilled in team motivation, conflict resolution, and customer service excellence.
