Roles & Responsibilities

Job Description – Vessel IT Engineer

Location: Tanajib, Saudi Arabia


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain onboard IT systems including servers, workstations, network equipment, and satellite communication systems (VSAT, Fleet Broadband, Starlink, OneWeb, GSM).
  • Provide L1/L2 technical support to vessel crew and office users in Tanajib.
  • Ensure compliance with company cybersecurity policies and international maritime cyber regulations.
  • Monitor system performance and perform preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Support deployment and administration of Microsoft 365, Teams, Intune, and other enterprise applications.
  • Maintain backup, disaster recovery, and data security protocols for vessel IT infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues (LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi/Satellite) and coordinate with vendors/ISPs for resolution.
  • Manage vessel IT asset inventory, documentation, and regular reporting.
  • Provide support during vessel audits, inspections, and DOC/Aramco compliance checks.
  • Collaborate with global IT infrastructure team for upgrades, patching, and system enhancements.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent maritime IT experience).
  • 3–6 years of experience in IT infrastructure and vessel IT operations.
  • Strong knowledge of: Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Intune, Endpoint Security.
    • Networking Cisco/HP/Aruba/Ruckus preferred).
    • Maritime communication systems (VSAT, OneWeb, Starlink, GSM, SatC).
  • Familiarity with IMO/ISM cyber compliance and Aramco IT requirements is an advantage.
  • Experience in IT support for offshore or marine environments preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in remote locations and onboard vessels.
