Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced VMware Cloud & Network Virtualization Engineer with strong expertise in VMware vCloud Director (VCD), vSphere, vSAN, and NSX. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and troubleshooting cloud environments, along with supporting migrations and advanced networking setups.

Key Responsibilities VMware vCloud Director (VCD)

• Manage and administer VMware vCloud Director environments.
  
• Design and implement Organization VDCs (Org VDCs) using different allocation models:
  • Allocation Pool
    
  • Reservation Pool
    
  • Pay-As-You-Go
    
• Configure and manage:
  • External Networks
    
  • Organization Networks (Isolated, Routed, Direct)
    
• Perform tenant onboarding and resource allocation.
  
• Monitor usage, optimize performance, and ensure SLA compliance.
  

vSphere & vCenter Administration

• Manage and maintain VMware vCenter Server and ESXi hosts.
  
• Plan and execute upgrades ensuring compatibility (vCenter before ESXi best practice).
  
• Perform patching, lifecycle management, and troubleshooting.
  
• Configure and manage:
  • DRS (Distributed Resource Scheduler) for workload balancing
    
  • HA (High Availability) for failover protection
    
• Conduct performance tuning and root cause analysis.
  

VMware vSAN

• Design and manage vSAN clusters (minimum 3 nodes).
  
• Monitor storage performance, health, and capacity.
  
• Understand vSAN architecture and protocols (e.g., storage traffic over VMkernel).
  

Networking & NSX

• Deploy and manage VMware NSX Manager environments.
  
• Configure:
  • Tier-0 (T0) and Tier-1 (T1) gateways
    
  • Logical segments and transport zones
    
• Implement networking concepts:
  • Routed vs Isolated networks
    
  • VLAN trunking and access port groups
    
• Support Layer 2 (L2) extension for hybrid/cloud migrations.
  

Cloud Migration & Replication

• Plan and execute migrations from on-premises to cloud environments.
  
• Utilize tools such as:
  • VMware HCX
  • vSphere Replication
    
  • Third-party replication tools
    
• Ensure minimal downtime and data integrity during migrations.
  

Security & Advanced Features

• Implement vTPM (Virtual Trusted Platform Module) for enhanced VM security.
  
• Ensure compliance with security best practices.
  
• Work with firewall and micro-segmentation concepts (NSX).
  

Switching & Networking

• Configure and manage:
  • Standard Switch (vSS)
    
  • Distributed Switch (vDS)
    
• Understand differences and use cases for each.
  
• Integrate VMware networking with physical infrastructure (including Juniper-based networks).
  

Operations & Troubleshooting

• Perform daily administrative tasks:
  • System monitoring
    
  • Log analysis
    
  • Incident resolution
    
• Troubleshoot performance, network, and storage issues.
  
• Maintain documentation and operational procedures.
  

Required Skills & Experience

• 4 7 years of hands-on experience in VMware environments.
  
• Strong expertise in:
  • VMware vCloud Director
    
  • vSphere (vCenter, ESXi)
    
  • NSX (NSX-T preferred)
    
  • vSAN
    
• Experience with cloud migration tools like VMware HCX.
  
• Solid understanding of networking concepts (VLANs, routing, L2/L3).
  
• Experience with Juniper or enterprise-grade networking is a plus.
  

Preferred Certifications

• VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
  
• VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) preferred
  
• NSX Certification (VCP-NV) highly desirable
