Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Define and execute IGC s Commercial & Contracts strategy to maximize long-term value creation, fiscal sustainability, and national impact.
- Provide executive oversight of portfolio financial performance, contract economics, and value delivery across the gas aggregation chain.
- Lead commercial and business development initiatives, identifying new monetization and optimization opportunities across the gas sector.
- Advise the CEO and Board on commercial performance, legal and contractual risks, and strategic interventions to ensure proactive mitigation and sustained results.
Contracts Leadership
- Oversee the full portfolio of gas purchase, sales, and allocation agreements, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and effective risk management.
- Lead the negotiation and re-negotiation of long-term agreements (NGSAs, EPSAs, MOUs, etc.), shaping pricing structures, commercial terms, and strategic frameworks.
- Direct the resolution of complex disputes, claims, and settlements, in close collaboration with the General Counsel, to safeguard IGC s commercial and legal interests.
- Establish and continuously enhance governance frameworks, policies, and best practices for contract management, negotiation, and dispute resolution.
Commercial Operations
- Manage short-term and spot gas transactions, including auction design, allocation mechanisms, and volume optimization.
- Ensure commercial alignment across Planning, Operations, Finance, and Legal functions for pricing, demand forecasting, and margin optimization.
- Enhance overall portfolio value through integrated commercial strategies that balance long-term contractual stability with market responsiveness.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Foster strong cross-functional collaboration across Operations, Finance, Legal, and Planning to ensure seamless commercial execution.
- Engage effectively with key external stakeholders, including the Ministry of Energy and Minerals (MEM), Ministry of Finance (MOF), OQ Gas Network (OQGN), regulators, major customers, and financial institutions.
- Represent IGC in national and international forums, negotiations, and industry platforms, positioning the company as a cornerstone of Oman s energy transition and industrial growth.
Desired Candidate Profile
Bachelor s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Economics, or a related field (required); advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred.
18+ years senior leadership experience in the energy sector with a proven track record in commercial strategy, contract negotiations, and portfolio management.
Strong financial acumen with demonstrated experience in driving commercial performance, business development, and stakeholder value creation.
Solid understanding of contractual frameworks, dispute resolution, and legal-commercial governance, with the ability to work closely with legal counsel.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills; ability to manage complexity, influence stakeholders, and deliver results in dynamic environments.
