Roles & Responsibilities
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Support the implementation of WASH activities in line with Project HOPE s WASH strategy at health delivery points, shelters, and within beneficiary communities.
- Monitor water distribution activities to ensure fair and equitable access for all beneficiaries.
- Monitor water tanks on trucks and at distribution points in shelters to ensure water is safe, hygienic, and free from contaminants.
- Conduct regular water quality tests and ensure compliance with established standards.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of water systems, water quality, hygiene activities, and testing results.
- Assist in implementing hygiene promotion programs that are culturally appropriate and widely accepted by beneficiaries.
- Support the supervision and monitoring of WASH facilities to ensure functionality and quality.
- Work collaboratively with the team to ensure timely provision and distribution of WASH supplies.
- Ensure that WASH activities incorporate health, gender, and protection considerations.
Community Coordination:
- Coordinate with community leaders, local authorities, and beneficiaries to ensure equitable access to WASH services.
- Assist in community mobilization and engagement activities to promote hygiene best practices.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Provide regular daily, weekly, and monthly reports to the WASH Technical Lead on ongoing activities related to water distribution, hygiene promotion, and water quality.
- Develop and maintain weekly and monthly work plans and written records of engineering activities, including site visits and progress reports.
- Maintain accurate records of field visits, inspections, and awareness sessions.
- Report challenges, gaps, or incidents promptly to the direct supervisor.
Key Focus Areas for WASH in Health Care Facilities (HCFs):
- Contribute to Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) within health care facilities.
- Assess IPC practices and coverage, including human resources, waste collection, segregation, disposal supplies, and related infrastructure.
- Coordinate with the Health team to identify key priority IPC support areas.
- Prepare IPC improvement plans for health care facilities within the project period, ensuring clear accountability among Project HOPE, facility management, and local authorities.
- Implement the IPC improvement plan in line with the project s scope and budget and coordinate with the Health and Nutrition team to address gaps in collaboration with government and other partners.
- Water Supply : Ensure access to safe and adequate water in health care facilities, including quality monitoring and support for water treatment and storage.
- Hygiene and Sanitation: Promote hygiene best practices and ensure the availability of inclusive, gender-sensitive sanitation facilities, including menstrual hygiene management.
- Medical Waste Management: Support the implementation of safe and effective systems for the collection, segregation, and disposal of medical waste.
- Environment: Promote environmental cleanliness and safety within and around health care facilities, including drainage, vector control, and waste management.
- Visibility: Ensure WASH interventions are visible and effectively communicated to stakeholders and beneficiaries.
- Safeguarding : Uphold safeguarding principles by promoting safe, inclusive, and dignified access to WASH services, particularly for vulnerable and at-risk groups.

Desired Candidate Profile
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in water and sanitation engineering, civil engineering, or relevant technical WASH specialization; appropriate certification and technical training desirable.
- At least 2 years of work experience with designing and implementing emergency WASH (water and sanitation systems) in IDPs shelters and migrant contexts, maintaining sanitations systems, and implementing hygiene promotion programs; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge and understanding of WASH sector and its hardware and software components specially in health facilities.
- Demonstrated analytical, motivational, communication, project conceptualization and planning skill.
- Experience overseeing emergency program implementation, tracking the progress, reporting against the agreed indicators and managing project budget.
- Experience in emergency and early recovery phases, including assessments and the design and delivery of effective water supply and hygiene promotion interventions in humanitarian and development contexts.
- Demonstrated knowledge of linking WASH activities with other humanitarian sectors.
- Ability to understand gender related challenges within the beneficiary groups.
- Demonstrated experience of working closely with support functions (finance and logistics) on activity and procurement planning.
- Fluency in English and Arabic.
