Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

FUNCTIONS:

  • Monitoring, Operate, inspect (routine) and control SCADA, pumps, electric motors, generators, electro chlorination generation plants, air compressors, hydraulic systems piping system, high pressure pumps, lamella, filters, Ultrafiltration, micron filtration, reverse osmosis, seawater pumps, valves, cranes, electrical controls and associated instrumentation.
  • Assist in preventive and corrective maintenance activities, report faults and coordinate with maintenance teams.
  • Pump Operation: Start/stop and monitor intake pumps for flow and pressure.
  • Screening Systems: Operate & Maintain bar screens, traveling band screens, and strainers.
  • Electro Chlorination Systems: Operate and maintain electro-chlorination plant and associated equipment.
  • Corrosion Monitoring: Inspect pipelines and structures for signs of corrosion or damage.
  • Environmental Monitoring: Ensure minimal impact on marine ecosystems.
  • Membrane Monitoring: Check membrane integrity, pressure drops, and salt rejection rates.
  • Start & Stop, operate and maintain the reverse osmosis plant and associated equipment.

  • Chemical Dosing: Monitor and adjust dosing of anti-scalants, chlorine, and pH adjusters.
  • Cleaning Procedures: Perform chemical cleaning of membranes (CIP) when required.
  • Influent Monitoring: Check incoming wastewater characteristics and adjust treatment processes accordingly.
  • Process Control: Operate biological, chemical, and physical treatment units (aeration tanks, clarifiers, sludge handling).
  • Sludge Management: Monitor Sludge levels, dewatering systems, and disposal procedures.
  • Compliance Testing: Ensure treated effluent meets discharge standards (BOD, COD, TSS, PH).
  • Emergency Handling: Respond to alarms and abnormal conditions like toxic shock loads or equipment failure.
  • Pump Scheduling: Operate potable and process water pumping stations based on demand and reservoir levels.
  • Pressure Management: Monitor and regulate pressure to avoid pipe burts or low flow/pressure complaints.
  • Water Quality checks: Test for water quality parameters as per standards.
  • Leak Detection: Identify and report leaks or abnormal consumption patterns.
  • Coordination: Work with network teams for valve operations, flushing, and emergency repairs.
  • Reads flow meters and gauges and transmitters to regulate equipment according to operation requirements and demands & detect malfunctions.
  • Records data, such as utilization of equipment, condition monitoring, power, flow, diesel, chemical and materials consumptions.
  • Keeping operation records and work activity reports, utilize computers as applicable.
  • Maintain logbooks and PTW system
  • Assists in analyzing pumping stations operations, electro chlorination, ETP & RRP & SWRO operations; make suggestions to supervisors on improvements.
  • Prepares timecards and distribute duty tables.
  • Prepare data for Daily, Monthly reports.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working in the Operation Department. Reports directly to Plant Manager/Deputy/Operations Engineer.
  • Performs all duties according to Company Policies and Procedures.
  • Adheres to company s Quality, Health & Safety and Environment policies and procedures.
  • Adheres to company s HR Policies and Procedures.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND:

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • The principles of industrial wastewater treatment, including biological and physical-chemical processes.
  • The fundamental principles of reverse osmosis desalination and pretreatment processes.
  • Hydraulic systems, pumps, and pumping station operations.
  • Water quality parameters and analytical testing methods.
  • Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations and best practices.
  • Basic mechanical and electrical maintenance procedures.
  • Process control logic and instrumentation.

Desired Candidate Profile

Diploma Holder or relevant experience in a related technical field (e.g., Water Treatment Technology, Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering)

Minimum 2 years in Operation & Maintenance in Water, Wastewater & Desalination plants.
