Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Overview: Responsible for Qualifying Welding Procedures, Welders . Welders Training . Development of new welding techniques & Automation . Evaluation of welder's performance & action. Primary functions: Report to QC Manager on the performance or the quality issues related to welding. Review project contracts and specification to identify the need of any additional welding procedures as required in coordination with different involved departments. Prepare Welding procedures for each project & obtain clients approval. Maintain & update the status list of available welding procedures in Qcon. Assist other departments for information regarding availability of qualified Procedures or for the necessity of qualifying new procedures on taking up new jobs . Ensure that Welding procedures are distributed and updated to all departments, as applicable. Ensure that Welders & welding operators possess adequate qualification and training . Ensure that special welding consumables are selected, and arranged in time for the projects as per qualified procedures. Ensure sufficient and required type of welding Inspection instruments are arranged to take care of project requirements. Ensure sufficient materials are arranged for training & qualifying the welders. Ensure sufficient & proper welding equipment's/ facilities are arranged for training & qualifying the welders and upkeep of the Welders Training School. Ensure new welders are trained and qualified and Certificates prepared & approved by TPI . Liaise with Project Managers to arrange the welders in time for training / qualification to meet each Site/Project requirement for additional / special qualifications. Providing guidance and direction to Welding School Supervisors and monitoring performance. Assistance in selection / recruitment of welders / foremen as required . Ensure the updating of welder's qualification status in QCON and in guiding other departments on qualifications of welders. Maintaining & renewing welders qualification certifications as per code requirements and getting approval from TPI agencies periodically and forwarding to project sites. Arrange to retrain welders or action as required based on project feedback . Assist in the selection of new welding equipment's when required. Evaluate new welding consumables / equipment's for usage.

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualifications/Experience : Graduate in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering. I1W certified. Preferably with CSWIP 3.2 Total 10 years and 5years experience in Oil & Gas , Petrochemical fields fabrication / construction welding especially offshore project.

Specific skills and Knowledge: Quality Control knowledge in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical knowledge: fields construction. Good knowledge of International codes & standards like ASME , API . Good knowledge of Materials & specifications. Knowledge of Welding equipment's and Automation. Knowledge of NDT ( RT / PT/ MT/UT)PMI/Ferrite ,Hardness Checking , knowledge of PWHT Personal competencies: Strong Interpersonal relationship capabilities. Leadership capabilities Good anticipation , planning & organising skills. Skill to understand / operate modern welding processes / equipments to teach / train supervisors / foremen / welders.
