Welding Inspector

The Welding Inspector is responsible for inspecting and ensuring the quality and safety of welding work on projects. This includes verifying welds comply with project specifications, codes, and standards, and coordinating with welders, engineers, and quality control teams to maintain high standards of workmanship.

Key Responsibilities:

Inspect welding work to ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards (AWS, ASME, API, ISO).

Review and verify Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Qualification Records (WQR).

Conduct visual weld inspections and coordinate Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods such as radiographic (RT), ultrasonic (UT), magnetic particle (MT), and dye penetrant (PT) testing.

Identify and report welding defects, recommending corrective actions.

Monitor welding consumables, equipment, and workmanship.

Maintain detailed inspection reports and documentation.

Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations on site.

Liaise with QA/QC teams, engineers, contractors, and clients.

Participate in technical meetings and audits related to welding quality.

Qualifications:

Diploma or Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Technology, or related field.

Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent certification (CSWIP 3.1/3.2 preferred).

3 7 years of experience in welding inspection or quality control.

Strong knowledge of welding codes and standards.

Familiarity with NDT methods and procedures.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding documentation.
