Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- System Design & Layout: Create detailed 2D schematics and 3D routing layouts for vehicle wiring systems, ensuring they fit within the physical constraints of the vehicle body.
- Component Selection: Define and select appropriate electrical components, including connectors, terminals, fuses, and relays, based on electrical load and environmental requirements.
- Circuit Analysis: Perform technical calculations such as voltage drop, thermal derating, and fuse sizing to ensure system reliability and safety.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with mechanical engineers to locate electrical items and ensure harness routing does not interfere with other vehicle systems.
- Manufacturing Support: Create manufacturing-ready documentation, including formboard drawings and work instructions, to support the assembly and installation process.
- Testing & Validation: Conduct continuity, pull-force, and environmental tests to verify that designs meet industry standards like IPC/WHMA-A-620.
Essential Technical Skills
- CAD & Design Software: Proficiency in industry-standard tools is mandatory. Leading software includes:
- AutoCAD Electrical or Inventor.
- Electrical Fundamentals: Strong understanding of electrical principles, CAN BUS systems, and grounding strategies.
- Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with automotive standards and regulatory requirements for wiring and safety.

Requirements & Experience
- Education: A Bachelor s degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechatronics Engineering is typically required.
- Experience: Most roles require 3 5 years of hands-on experience in harness design.
