ob Overview: To provide end-to-end observability and performance intelligence for CLIENTs' operational database platforms by designing, owning, and automating monitoring, logging, and analytics capabilities across open-source and legacy environments. The role ensures early detection of performance risks, enables data-driven operational decisions, and supports the safe transition from proprietary database technologies, safeguarding system availability, and operational continuity. Roles & Responsibilities: Experienced in analyzing database and operating system logs to derive performance insights and in designing and delivering operational dashboards using platforms such as Grafana, Power BI, and Tableau. Proficient in automating analytics and observability workflows through Ansible and scripting languages including Python, PowerShell, and shell scripting, as well as workflow orchestration using Airflow. Key Skills: Open-source monitoring and analytics platforms (Grafana, Prometheus) Scripting and automation using Bash, PowerShell, and Python Database clustering and replication technologies (e.g., CitusData, EDB Enterprise Failover Manager) Enterprise operating systems (Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Windows Server) Relational database platforms (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL) Microsoft Office Suite Experience from Aviation; Telecom; Banking; Transport Industries Bachelor’s degree in data science or related. Required certifications: ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) Grafana & Prometheus RedHat Ansible Automation PowerBI & Tableau Database Observability & Performance Monitoring: Design and implement deep-dive monitoring for a multi-platform environment (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MySQL). Analyze slow query logs, wait statistics, and resource saturation (CPU/IO/Memory) to identify bottlenecks. Proactively detect performance degradation before it impacts end-users. Collaborate with development teams to recommend index changes or query refactoring based on performance data. Log Aggregation & Data Analytics: Manage the centralized logging infrastructure using Elasticsearch. Ingest and parse database logs to track error rates, access patterns, and security audits. Create analytics reports that correlate database events with application behavior. Dashboarding & Automation: Build comprehensive, real-time dashboards in Grafana (via Prometheus exporters) to visualize uptime, latency, and throughput. Develop Python scripts and Ansible playbooks to automate "self-healing" workflows (e.g., killing stuck sessions, auto-scaling, or clearing temp space). Orchestrate complex data collection workflows using Apache Airflow. Operational Support: Conduct daily operational health checks to ensure optimal database analytics performance. Provide timely business and application support to resolve dashboard-related issues. Perform patching and minor version upgrades while minimizing system downtime.
