Assistant School Counsellor Nord Anglia International School Al Khor

The Assistant School Counsellor will work closely with the Head of Inclusion and other pastoral care staff to support students emotional, social, and academic wellbeing. The successful candidate will assist in implementing counselling programs, providing support to individual students, and fostering a safe and supportive school environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of counselling services to students across various age groups.
• Assist with the planning and implementation of wellbeing and mental health programs.
• Provide short-term, one-on-one support under the supervision of the Head of Inclusion.
• Observe and report on student behavior and wellbeing concerns.
• Liaise with parents, teachers, and external professionals when appropriate.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records.
• Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development.

Skills and Competencies

• Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, or a related field (essential).
• Previous experience working with children or adolescents in an educational or mental health setting (preferred).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
• Passion for student wellbeing and emotional development.
• Certification in Child Protection and/or First Aid (preferred but not mandatory).
• Self-motivated, flexible, and adaptable to different tasks at hand
• Proficient communicator both oral and written.
