Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Job Purpose The Automation Field Engineer (T&C) is responsible for on-site testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and handover of industrial automation systems. The role focuses strictly on field execution and customer-facing technical delivery, ensuring systems are commissioned safely, accurately, and on schedule.
This role does NOT include program development as a primary responsibility
Key Responsibilities
Site Testing & Commissioning
Perform site testing, loop checking, I/O verification, and commissioning of PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems.
Execute FAT/SAT support, site modifications, and final handover activities.
Interface with field instruments, MCC panels, VFDs, soft starters, and control panels.
Carry out signal testing, interlock verification, and functional testing.
Customer & Site Coordination
Coordinate with customers, consultants, and main contractors during commissioning.
Attend site meetings and provide technical clarifications and progress updates.
Support shutdowns, breakdowns, and urgent service calls when required.
Documentation & Compliance
Update as-built drawings, I/O test sheets, commissioning checklists, and handover documents.
Ensure compliance with project specifications, safety procedures, and approved documents.
Follow company HSE practices strictly at site.
Desired Candidate Profile
Area of Technical Expertise (Mandatory)
Siemens TIA Portal: S7-300 / S7-400
S7-400H (Redundant Systems)
S7-1200 / S7-1500 S7-1500H (Redundant Systems)
WinCC Comfort / Advanced / Professional
PCS 7 (Site-level exposure)
Industrial networking: Profinet, Profibus, Ethernet.
Application Areas
Experience in one or more of the following:
Water & Waste Water Treatment Plants.
RO Plants with field instrumentation.
Primary & Secondary Chilled Water Systems.
Stairwell Pressurization Systems.
Booster Pumping Systems.
Basement Ventilation & Exhaust Air Fans
Other Brand Knowledge (Added Advantage)
Rockwell Automation (Allen-Bradley).
Honeywell PLC / DCS.
Schneider Electric Automation
Qualifications
Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or Automation Engineering.
Siemens Certified Engineer - Preferred
Experience
3–6 years of relevant field commissioning experience in industrial automation.
Driving License
Valid Qatar Driving License – Advantage
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Commissioning completed within approved schedule.
First-time right commissioning (minimum rework).
Quality of SAT / handover documentation.
Customer satisfaction & site feedback.
Compliance with safety and project procedures.
