Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities


§ Greet all guests in the lobby in a warm and professional manner, make them feel welcome and anticipate their needs before they arise

§ Carrying the guest’s laundry from the rooms to the laundry room.

§ Make dining and other reservations for patrons, and obtain tickets for events

§ Provide information about local features such as shopping, dining, nightlife, and recreational destinations.

§ Make travel arrangements for sightseeing and other tours.

§ Receive, store, and deliver luggage and mail.

§ Arrange for the replacement of items lost by travelers.

§ Opening the front door for guests.

§ Receiving telephone calls that come to the front desk in the absence of the attendant

§ Respond to bell calls from guests either from the rooms or from where they are e.g. at the door.

§ Loading and unloading luggage from the vehicles that the clients either come in or are leaving the Hotel.

§ Should the client require a wakeup call, the bell boy needs to be on hand to book and make the call at the appropriate time

§ Recognize all returning and VIP guests, and welcome them back

§ Escort all guests checking in to their accommodations following hotel procedure. Inform them about all hotel and guest room features, hotel facilities, and emergency procedures

§ Assist guests with their luggage and acknowledge them by name

§ Deliver the morning newspapers to each occupied guest room

§ Make deliveries to guest rooms as instructed

§ Store and retrieve luggage and other objects for guests

§ Be fully aware of what functions are going on in the hotel.

§ Be fully aware of the city attractions, transportation services and events currently going on in Dubai.

§ Coordinate the traffic of vehicles in front of the hotel (guests’ cars, limousines, taxis, minivans, buses)

§ Maintain good relationship with all the departments of the hotel

§ Follow all health & safety policies

§ Implement, maintain and continue to improve departmental policies, procedures and service standards

§ Carry out any other duties requested by Front Desk Agents, Front Office Supervisor, Duty Manager or Front Office Manager

§ Responsible for maintaining a clean and tidy work area at all times (including the lobby and the area of the hotel entrance)

§ Attend all meetings and trainings assigned by the Front Office Manager

Must have a good interpersonal skills

§ Must have a good Communication Skills

§ Must be very presentable and well groomed

§ Must be very attentive and be able to think on his feet

§ Must be extremely agile as the job demands speed and efficiency in its execution

§ Ability to work in a team-oriented, high-volume, fast-paced, guest-centric environment.

§ Must be flexible to work all shifts including weekends and holidays.

§ Must be able to move lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 80 pounds.

§ Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.

§ Must be able to stand sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift.

§ Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.

The bellboy or bellman is primarily responsible for welcoming all guests to the hotel as well as bidding them farewell. The bell person is escorting guests to and from their accommodations, orienting them with the features of the property and their accommodations, assisting the guest in any way to make them feel more comfortable in accordance with the Golden Sands Hotel Apartments Standards of Excellence.
