Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Cable Jointing & Termination
- Perform jointing and termination of LV, MV, and HV cables (up to 11kV / 33kV / 132kV)
- Handle XLPE, PILC cables and accessories
- Ensure proper insulation and sealing techniques
Installation & Maintenance
- Install underground cables in trenches, ducts, and substations
- Carry out preventive and breakdown maintenance
- Identify and rectify cable faults
Testing & Commissioning
- Perform cable testing:
- Insulation Resistance (IR)
- High Voltage (Hi-Pot) tests
- Assist in commissioning of new cable systems
Safety & Compliance
- Follow DEWA safety standards and procedures
- Use PPE and adhere to electrical safety norms
- Ensure work permits and isolation procedures
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain records of jointing work and test results
- Report faults, repairs, and site activities
Key Skills Required
- Expertise in cable jointing (LV/MV/HV)
- Knowledge of XLPE / PILC cables
- Fault finding & troubleshooting
- Understanding of electrical drawings & schematics
- Safety compliance (lockout/tagout, permit system)
Desired Candidate Profile
Qualification
- Certification in cable jointing (preferred)
Experience
- 38 years in cable jointing (preferably utility / substation projects)
- Experience in Gulf / Middle East projects (preferred)
