Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Main Responsibilities:
- Report matters regarding aircraft safety through the normal chain of command. However, he/she always has direct excess to the Base Flight Safety Officer and Flight Safety Manager for urgent matters regarding aircraft flight safety.
- Make decisions on initiation, continuation, delay, diversion, or rerouting of a flight when operationally necessary.
- Ensure that flight crew members will not commence if any is incapacitated from performing duties by any cause such as injury, sickness, fatigue, or the effects of any psychoactive substance.
- Ensure that flight crew members will not continue beyond the nearest suitable aerodrome when flight crewmembers capacity to perform functions is significantly reduced by impairment of faculties from causes such as fatigue, sickness or lack of oxygen.
- Ensure that flight crew members will not continue toward any aerodrome of intended landing if, in the opinion of the PIC, the flight cannot be completed safely, unless, in the opinion of the PIC, there is no safer procedure. In that event, continuation toward that aerodrome is an emergency.
- Ensure that a flight will not be commenced unless it has been determined by every reasonable means available that the ground and/or water facilities, including communication facilities and navigation aids available and directly required for the flight and the safe operation of the aircraft, are adequate for the type of operation under which the flight is to be conducted.
- Notify the nearest appropriate authority by the quickest available means of any incident or accident involving the helicopter, resulting in serious injury or death of any person or substantial damage to the helicopter or property.
- Ensure that each flight crew member holds a valid airman certificate.
- Ensure that flight crew members are properly rated for the type of aircraft being flown.
- Ensure that flight crew members have demonstrated competency in accordance with the type of operation being conducted.
- Equip with an airborne collision avoidance system (ACAS II).
- Ensure that each flight crew member has been appropriately trained to competency in the use of ACAS II equipment and the avoidance of collision.
Qualifications
- GACA/FAA/EASA/CASA/CAA NZ CPL certificate.
- IR Multi Engine.
- MP Type Rated on assigned aircraft.
- 2500 FH on rotor wing.
- 1500 FH as PIC on rotor wing.
- 1000 FH on multi engine rotor wing.
- 200 FH at night as PIC on rotor wing.
- 100 FH under IFR as PIC on rotor wing.
- 100 FH on assigned aircraft.
- ELP 5 minimum.
- NIL accidents.
- NVG is considered as asset for EMS First Officer position.
- Class 1 medical certificate.
