Roles & Responsibilities

Position – Chemical Engineer / Plant Engineer

Location – Sohar, Oman

The Chemical Engineer plays a pivotal role in our used lubricant recycling and lubricant manufacturing operations. This position is responsible for designing, optimizing, troubleshooting, and overseeing chemical processes required to transform used lubricants into high-quality, reusable products and the manufacturing of lubricant products while ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards. The Chemical Engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including production, quality control, research and development, and environmental health and safety—to ensure efficient, sustainable, and cost-effective plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process Design & Optimization
  • Design, implement, and improve chemical processes for the recycling of used lubricants and the manufacturing of new lubricant products.
  • Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and material and energy balances for all unit operations.
  • Analyze process data regularly to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, or safety concerns, and recommend solutions.
  • Lead initiatives to increase yield, product quality, and energy efficiency across plant processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Five to ten years of experience in process engineering, preferably in lubricant recycling, petrochemical, or related heavy industry environments.
  • Strong knowledge of chemical process design, equipment, and operations relevant to oil re-refining, distillation, filtration, and blending.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations (e.g., EPA, local standards) and safe handling of hazardous materials.
  • Demonstrated experience with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, CHEMCAD) and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication, with the ability to present technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to work collaboratively across different disciplines.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and sustainability.
